Q: Can laundry detergent be used to clean the carpet: It seems that there is special cleanser to clean carpet.

Q: I used RESOLVE High Traffic Carpet Cleaning Kit a few months ago. I didn't think it even worked, but to my dismay, I believe it has made my carpet dirtier. I probably should have tried getting some of the soap up, but I had no idea that leaving soap (even if the directions tell you that you only need to vacuum) that it could lead to the stains sticking more.So now, the areas that I used the product on have turn one shade away from black (we have white carpet).I just used a Bissell carpet steamer and the whole area looks the same!WHAT DO I DO?!I fear a professional won't be able to get it out either...: Modern carpets are stain resistant because their treated with a stain blocker. Scotch guard is one of many treatments.The problem is the carpets have to be retreated, when you shampoo a little spot you pick up the dirt and remove the stain block. Now that area is wide open to stains. If you don't reapply the stain blocker. You have removed the stain blocker and now really stained the carpet, by doing it yourself. I would find a carpet service that offers dying carpets.I've seen this work, by the dye is always darker to cover discolored carpet. You might have sections of the carpet replaced that are beyond cleaning, if it's wall to wall and you can save some of it. Compare my suggestions to replacement cost.

Q: My carpet is very stained and is supposed to be tan but because i have three kids and a dog who spill everything they can on it, its now multi colored and i have tried almost every carpet cleaner there is to try and get it clean. Ive used every resolve product, oxyclean, baking soda, and a lot of white vinegar and nothing works! Ive searched in resolved questions about this and got a lot of mixed answers. Some said they did it and it worked great then others said it can make them even worse by making the glue in the carpet fibers come apart. We live in post housing and i already know we are going to have to have the carpet replaced when we leave but that's not for another year or two. Im so embarrassed by it that i don't even like to have our friends over. I would like to know if anybody has bleached their carpets to make them white and if they have did the fibers in the carpets unravel weeks or months later??? Or did everything go okay and the carpets look better???: try vingar baking soda mixed wait till the fizz is gone and then get a washcloth or paper towel fold it dip into the mix press firmly on to the stain i tried it and it worked but im not sure if we have the same carpets mine is also tan

The tenant is responsible to return the unit to the same condition as when they moved in. This means the landlord cannot charge the tenant for redecorating, upgrading, and/or renovating the unit. Yes, the carpet should be about the same quality as was already in place if the landlord is attempting to charge the tenant for it. In addition, the landlord can only charge the prorated amount of life left in the carpet, which is typically estimated to last about 10 years. Meaning, if the carpet was already 5 years old when the tenant moved in, he could only be charged up to half the cost, even if he destroyed the carpet. If the carpet was over 10 years old, the tenant cannot be charged at all, as it was already considered as having to be replaced. This is a very, very loose rule, though; a judge may not necessarily agree or may consider the life of carpet to be closer to 20 years. Walmart sells 2 products which I have found work great and unlike some pet eliminating products these work right in a carpet cleaning machine... they eliminate pet stains and neutralize pet odors. They are... Odo Ban pet (in the pet section) and Bissell Pet Odor (in the carpet cleaner section) They also have a pleasant scent, and by cleaning the carpets it also picks up any fur that your vacuum may have missed. There are other products that you can buy at pet stores however with those you have to pour the liquid and leave it there to dry on its own .. can take along time to dry and will damage your carpet, padding and wood underneath. The carpet cleaner does a great job and dries rather quickly I use a carpet cleaner weekly/biweekly (have 6 dogs)
