Wilton carpet, like Axminster carpet, is woven. However the difference between the two methods is the way in which the carpet is woven. Whereas the Axminster yarn is woven into each weft and then cut to the required pile height and then reinserted when that colour is needed again –the Wilton carpet yarn is a continuous strand woven all the way through.

Q:S.O.S! How do you clean a shag rug?
I have never met a rug that could not be washed in the washer (except wool rugs). Cold water, regular laundry detergent, just like the Target site suggests. However...here's the clincher. To machine dry or air dry? That is the question. If you allow a rug to air dry, sometimes it looks matted afterward. With shag, this is less likely to happen. It happens more frequently with plush rugs. On the other hand, if you machine dry, the rug looks beautifully fluffy, but the backing comes off in a million little pieces. For your rug? I would machine wash it in cold, and then let it air dry. I think you'll be happy with the result. If not, try tossing it in the dryer on fluff or No Heat. Good luck. -
Q:Curry on my sheepskin rug-how can I clean it?
No take your dumb boyfriend to the cleaners you wont get a curry stain out of a sheepskin rug although you could try bleaching it if it hasn't gone down too deep into the wool Try Hydrogen Peroxide from your chemist shop. if that won't shift it you need a new one sorry
Q:POLL: Wood Floor or Carpet?
Re-carpet. The covering helps keep the floor warmer lowering your electric, gas or propane bill. I hsf carpet at my lst home, dirty and old. We put throw rugs on top of it to cover the stains. My grandmother (mema) has wooden floors in each room except the bedrooms. They are old and stained, even after being cleaned. It is time for new carpet in those rooms. .
Q:knitting/crochet patterns for a rug?
One of the problems with substituting other yarn for rug yarn is that rug yarn is generally more resilient because you need to be able to walk on it, however, I have done some latch-hook work and have found that chunky 16 ply yarns are similar in thickness to 6 ply rug yarn and are therefore a reasonable substitute. 3 or 4 strands of knitting yarn may also give you a similar thickness and may work for you purposes but won't have the same resilience as proper rug yarn.
Q:where can i buy an 8'x8' rug?
here is a link to multiple sites where you can get them: ... Also you can, type 8' x 8' rug, your city , in your browser and it'll show your local suppliers. Hope that helps you, Good luck.
Q:Question about area rugs...?
No, but... do you have a fabric outlet in your area? I got my large (8'x10' I believe) rug from a fabric outlet in my area, for $150. not bad! Its beautiful too. just a suggestion.
Q:Can we fix our berber carpet?
You can patch, which is a little tougher with Berber than with regular plush carpet, because the beber doesn't hid the patching very well. In addition, because of the way berber wears and flattens, it's probably going to be very noticable, especially if the hole is in the middle of the room. We had success in some not highly worn areas by just patching. We cut the squares with the mesh a little bigger than the holes, and used carpet staples to hold it down. This was at some door ways, and not noticable when done unless you were looking closely. In a more worn area, the new patch stuck out like a sore thumb, because the carpet around it was worn. We wore it down at the edges a bit by scuffing it up a bit with the vaccum and steam cleaner, and in the end, you can see it, but not SO visibly. We only patched because recarpeting would have involved three large rooms and a hallway due to the frayed areas. You can contact any carpet laying company to come out and assess, and let you know if patching is possible. Berber, honestly, is usually often easier to replace the whole room.
Q:The discoloration of carpet
Know the flowers with blanket material base down jacket not rinsed traces can not clean blanket to use washing machine drying Lun (dry shade) from the manufacturers directly to re wash wash wash do not wash the carpet like home (for acrylic blanket blanket) for pure blanket with a towel wipe it dry wet brush look at the effect of turn to clean and don't let the color on the area do not get clean
Q:Old oriental rug dissolving, need glue like product for backing?
Then it's not a real oriental rug. A true oriental carpet will be something that could be turned over and the weave would be visible on the back side; it is not held together by a rubber backing. If your carpet had rubberized backing on it, this means it was a commercial carpet with an oriental design. Those backings are not meant to last forever, and they simply deteriorate with exposure to air and the elements. There is nothing you can do to restore it, to my knowledge. The rubberized backing has broken down, and that's irreversible - part and parcel of the product that you purchased. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news. Just this summer I had to toss two such carpets at church. One of them had backing that was dry and powdery; the other, much cheaper, had to be peeled off the hallway, and we had to spray with orange oil and go at the backing with a putty knife to remove the backing from the floor...a messy and nasty job. Be glad you never put that on the floor. You'd be cussing if you had to remove it.
Q:Are there any rules for selecting rug sizes? We're not sure whether to get a 5X8 or an 8X10.?
The whole point of using area rugs (other than the warm fuzzy feel under your feet) is to define an area. If you're using a rug in a dining room, you want it to be large enough so that the table and all of the chairs fit comfortably on the rug, even when the chairs are pulled out. If you're using a rug to define a conversation area/furniture grouping in a living room, you want it to be large enough so that all of the furniture pieces in that grouping fit onto the area rug. There is a debate among designers/decorators regarding this issue. Some believe that only the front legs of each furniture piece needs to touch the rug, while others believe that the entire piece of furniture should fit on the rug. I say purchase one that the entire pieces of furniture can fit onto IF it fits into your budget.
