- Search online for the operator's manual for the specific brand/model number of excavator you are looking at. You may even be able to download a free copy from the manufacturers website. Most hydraulic circuits consist of a pump and motor to force fluid through the system, a reservoir to hold the hydraulic fluid, valves to control the flow through the system, cylinders or other devices that transfer energy into a usable force for doing work, maybe a filter.
