- Q: Which Vacuum is better...bagless or canister. And I mean cleaning wise. And with Canister, do you have to buy bags? Or with either, do you need to buy anything other than the vacuum EVER?
- I had both, my vacuum with bags would always get plugged, and when the bag got full, when I pulled it out I always got a cloud of dust as I pulled the bag off. I like my bag-less, because when full, pull out the canister with on button, then another button at the bottom of canister to release the dust door right into the trash, very covenant. Bags I was aways buying them, if that store does not have them I always had to find a store that did carry my type bags. Some canister vacuums have filters that have to be replaced. Mine has a filter that all I have to do is clean once a month let it dry and put it back in.
- Q: It's a big pain to loop them around those two hooks. I have a bad back and hate all that bending over to do so. Plus, when I turn the top hook to get the cord off and usable it gets all twisted. It's so nice with a canister vac to just touch the button with my toe and ZIPPP, it's all tidy.
- Sears does. Their Kenmore brands have retractable cords. I have one. It is a canister vacuum with carpet attachments. Works great does the job of two vacuums.
- Q: Who makes the best vacuum cleaner - DYSON or ORECK? and why?
- I have a hoover right now and it is CRAP. The plastic parts break, the door covering the bag is hard to get on and off, and it falls over when you're using the attachments. Eventually I got rid of it and got a cheap Kenmore from Sears. Much better vacuum, and it didn't have that annoying habit of falling over. Dysons seem gimicky to me. Oreck over-priced. It's nice to have attachments such as a crevice tool or the one with a brush.
- Q: I hear the Dyson Animal vacuum is the best thing out there but it has a very tall price tag.Is there anything similar that performs just as well that isnt so pricey?
- The best is a Kirby. The latest model is the Sentria. But any model works just as well. Theres no vaccum that could compare to it. The cheapest way to buy is on OKorder.
- Q: Okay its the commercial where the women are using these vacuum cleaners and when they are vacuuming its sqeaking. It sounds like a bunch of dog toys. I know this is confusing! I just want to know what brand and vacuum they are advertising for!

- Yes, they only work decent on wood floors,and it takes them a very long time to do the job, you can do it yourself in a fraction of time compared to how long it takes the robot to do it and some time it won't get the whole area, justs keeps on cleaning the area it just went over, I think they are worthless, just a novelty devise.I'll sell you mine if you really want one (LOL) oh... and they are worthless on tiled floors.

- given your level of knowledge about vacuum cleaners my best advice would be throw away the broken one and buy a new one. But let's say you decided not to take that advice. Then take the broken machine to a professional repairman. Let's say you didn't want to do that either. First let me warn you again that one of the first two solutions are your best bet. So you can't afford a new vacuum cleaner or to pay someone else to fix it. Ok. Unplug it from the wall. Check the plug and power chord carefully. Look for anything broken or bent. Replace any broken, bent or worn parts. By the way, make sure the outlet is functional. Take something you know is working and plug into the same outlet. If the working item does not work in that particular outlet then the outlet is broken. If the forgoing did not fix the machine then you really, really need to go with the first or second suggestion. If you can't then you have to open up the machine and see if you can find out anything wrong with the innards. Before doing that, check the vacuum hose, intake and filter. Make sure that none of these is clogged or broken. Replace any broken parts and clear any clogs. If you have to open up the machine then we are out of my depth. Yes I could tell you that after you make very, very, VERY, certain that the damn thing is not plugged into the wall, use a volt ohm meter to check the continuity of the wires and replace any broken ones. But if you don't know what a volt ohm meter is, you need to give this project up before hurt yourself.
- Q: I just bought Kirby Sentria vacuum cleaners for $1400. The salepersons were here for 5 hours doing their demo.I kind of am changing my mind I have had it for less then 2 hours.The paper says that I have 3 days to change my mind. Should I keep it or take it back?Is it hard to take it back?
- You should have no trouble taking it back. Call the number on your paperwork and also WRITE them a letter and keep a copy. (just to cover your a$$). But do it right away. Personally, I LOVE mine.
- Q: I have had several of the cheap vacuums from Walmart and they have all left me infuriated. I need one that will last for more than 2 months. I know that you get what you pay for and I am willing to spend some money on it, but not too much. I have 3 animals, too!
- I don't have a specific brand to recommend, but rather a strategy. Be sure to buy an extended warranty on your vacuum. At Target or WalMart or Best Buy, for example, these warranties are super cheap and totally worth every penny. Also purchase the vacuum with a credit card. Preferably American Express if you have one. These cc companies will back you and not hold you responsible for the charge if you have a problem with the product and the retailer will not return. - Q: I've seen a lot of advertisements for Sears Cannister Vacuums on sale or on closeout recently.Are these vacuums any good, on an absolute level, and also for the money they cost?
- I have been using one for several years...I have a hoover, and a Kirby...........I will take the Sears Canister over either of the three...Better suction....I love mine....
