- We bought a used '94 Kirby in 1996. We paid $400. for it. I like the powerful suction, but it also comes with drawbacks. The following are my opinions about this Kirby: 1. I don't like the cost of replacing the filters (they're about $8. a bag and only have 3 bags in a package. 2. It's not easy to change from vacuum to using the hose. 3. It's kind of heavy and bulky and doesn't maneuver easily. In my opinion, it's not worth it. You can purchase a bagless Dyson for around $500. and they work great. Does the $1800. price include all of the attachments? Do you need all those attachments? Are all the bells whistles worth $1800.?
- Q: Does anyone know of a quiet vacuum? I would like to vacuum the house without my little man crying.
- I HATE the sound of vacuum cleaners and have never found one that doesn't hit the pitch that drives me bonkers, but Dyson makes one that fairly quiet for several hundred dollars. Just keep in mind that it still whines so if you son has an issue with pitch or the whole combo of big, loud machine sucking up everything is part of the freak out, it might not help and it will set you back a small fortune. That said, my hubby does the vacuuming for me and despite our daughter freaking out at every loud noise, he's managed to be so silly while he's doing it that she tries to find bits it misses or in corners for daddy to suck up. Basically at first he'd hold her while he vacuumed and then he'd get out the hose attachment and have her hold out her hand to feel the air. Then he'd show her what it was doing and say stuff like Isn't it cool! how it just ate up all the dirt? She'll still get upset when something gets stuck in the hose and motor's noise changes, but it's not a trauma, she'll just cover her ears. p.s. avoid bathrooms with hand dryers, these are the same type of noise, but even louder because they echo so bad.

- Sounds like your vacuum is clogged remove the hose and see if you have air flowing
- Q: I heard it spins around in there at 9 times the speed of sound, that being true how is it possible to see a recently sucked up ant able to crawl around pretty happily in the bit where you can see all the dust? Serious answers only please.
- Ants have exo skeletons. They can survive pretty much everything except for being stomped on. They would most likely get caught in the dust and not be thrown around inside the vacuum cleaner. And im pretty sure vacuum cleaners dont spin at 9 times the speed of sound...
- Q: Can anyone please help me! I am soooo serious here...I have purchased two vacuum cleaners and they both SUCK. Bissel allergy one with the canister that you empty...It does not vacuum well at all, I can pick up stuff off the carpets better that the that. And then I bought a eureka vacuum from costco, not only is it hard to push, 4 months the screw came off the handle and is in the vaccum itself.....It is supposed to be industrial, and it is with a bag....and NEVER ever have I seen such scrap....I have new carpets so that is not the problem here...I also have pets....I do not want a tyson 3000 or whatever they are called...although they say they are good, and after what I have spent in these 2 vacuums I should have bought the tyson...So any suggestions or what you like would be appreciated...I am just fed up with picking up JUNK :PThanks you all..
- I okorder /. It reviews multiple brands and manufacturers. I have two toddlers and two labrador retrievers and the Kirby cleans great and doesn't need filters. The bag is the hepa filter! Good luck
- Q: My dog sheds year round, but even more so in the summertime. I've gone through several vacuum cleaners that work at first, then stop altogether. I dismantle the hose and clean out the hairs if they clog but I can't get adequate. What could be wrong? Can you recommend a vac that really picks up pet hair effectively?
- Dyson's are the most expensive vaccum cleaners that can be found in retail stores and they do a darn good job. But if you're looking for the hands down BEST multi purpose vaccum cleaner then I would highly suggest buying a Kirby. You should be able to find a Kirby retailer somewhere in your area, just google Kirby vaccums. They are pricey, but they are the best and last forever, please believe this! BTW, it's been a long time Bomb, hope everything is going well for ya. Just recently got back from another great visit to JA. I already miss Ultimate Jerk Centre food and Ting, as I always get carried away when I'm there. Always so sad to leave :( ONE LOVE.
