- A better Bissell is the Healthy Home. It's got a suction technology very similar to Dyson but for 1/2 (or less) the price of a Dyson. Old house, steep stairs and carrying a sweeper up and down the steps is just plainly a pain. The new one is just as powerful as the older one and hubby thinks it's a little quieter. It is lighter, a little bit. If you watch, you can get it on sale for around $170. Keep an eye at Lowe's; that's where I bought mine newest one. We have 3 dogs and 4 cats in the house so I know pet hair. We vacuum every other day most of the time and either Healthy Home unit has done a great job! I hated the sweeper we had upstairs and would have hubby carry the Bissell upstairs 90% of the time anyhow.

- That is a tough one. I do not know of a vacuum that has a lock built into it. The Miele canister vacuum cleaners have a handle. You can put a bicycle style lock through the handle. You could also do that with a Dyson. The Miele's last really well.
