Q: How doI wire a ceiling chain light to wall switch? I want to stop using the chain to turn the light on and off. I hane already installed the wall switch and the wiring in the box but not sure how to connect the wiring in the box to the ceiling light wiring.
I want to ask the same question as the person above.
Q: When was the hot-wire anemometer invented? and who was it?
Who Invented Anemometer
Q: I keep trying to strip this damned wire but the copper wire inside the tubeing constantly ends up getting split apart instead of staying together. Im pretty sure Im doing it right Ive done it before easily. The wire is very old though could that be the problem?
I never use a wire stripper, just side cutters. Grip the insulation firmly with the flat face of the cutters away from you and pull. It might help to gently crimp all around the insulation first.
Q: The infamous headlight switch please help
What is so infamous about plugging the wiring to the switch? It will only plug in one way. UPDATE 8/6/11: In over 45 years, I've only replaced one headlight switch that had melted and that was on a 1994 Plymouth Acclaim and the driver had left the headlights on all night and yes it drained the battery. The plastic plug had melted but the wires had not burned through, so I had something to work with. There is a possibility you can find a wiring diagram on Auto Zones website for your car, they do have an extensive library or you could try to find a Haynes manual for your car. Or if you are low on $$ if you tell us what manufacturer, model, year of car you drive someone here might be able to help.
Q: Or speaker wire that has an RCA plug on one end?If you know of something that is inexpensive without me having to get another preamp, please help.(this is for a turntable preamp by the way, my preamp only has RCA output.)
You can't connect speakers directly to a turntable preamp. You need an amp.
Q: i need to know if my wires are hooked up right
You didn't give us much to go on. There are at least 5 different color combinations in 10 conductor control wire I know of. There may be more that I've never used. Or your installer may have used two 5 conductor wires dropping of two for your T-stat.
Q: what are the limitations of international wire transfer
Usally 3% foren plus bank wire fee included
Q: i have an amp (sony xm 2002gtr) that says it requires 4 gauge wire..but they cost $100+ and i have plenty of 8 gauge wires. can i use two 8 gauge wires as a substitute for one 4 gauge wire?and also, i have my capacitor grounded to unpainted metal of my car AND the ground port of my amp..is that incorrect?
Two 8-gauge wires combined are equal to a 5-gauge wire, but that should be close enough for that amp. Make sure each wire has its own fuse near the battery; 40-amp fuses would be a good choice. If you capacitor is connected to ground, and your amp is grounded, then you don't really need a wire between the capacitor's ground terminal and the amp's ground terminal. It doesn't hurt anything, though. If the only ground wire at the amp is the one that runs to the capacitor, then you're better off connecting the amp ground directly to chassis metal.
Q: For my science project, need about 3 feet of copper wire...approx how much will that cost me? I want the wires to be pretty thin :)
Copper wire is probably the most expensive, but you only need 3 feet of it. Best to buy it by the foot and not by the reel. Home Depot has it. Or you can find it online (OKorder for example) as scrap wire but then you've got wait time, shipping, etc. If you know the gauge (thickness) you need, Home Depot will tell you on the phone how much it would be for 3 ft.
Q: Planning a study for my youth group. The name of the series will hopefully be 'Are you wired correctly?'. The basis would be having the right tools and so on to be on fire for God. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated!
