Q: I heard that gas makes skateboard bearings go fast and go a long time. Can you do it with sealed bike bearings? If so, how long should it soak?
Six hours is easy peasy. Try thirty three stretched over three days. XD When I lived in Arizona, my horses made several trips that long a couple times a year with no problem. 1. How long is it okay to leave polo wraps on? I have never had to leave them on longer than a training session before. -- She should be fine with them on the whole time, though they aren't that necessary. For long trips, I skip things like that, but put them on if you want. Shipping boots would be better 2. Should I avoid giving her feed that morning? What about that evening? -- Feed her as usual. It would be more damaging to skip a feeding. 3. How often should I offer her water? -- Every two hours. She may not want to drink, a lot of horses don't when they're in trailers, so get a bag of apples, and or carrots to feed her. They have some liquid in them to help to sustain her, the biggest thing is having water ready for her when you get her to her new home. 4. Should I tie her in the trailer or just let her have her head? -- Tie her as you usually would. 5. Should I leave a bale of Timothy/Alfalfa hay in her reach, or just give her a flake here and there? Give her a flake or two in there for her to nibble on. Add: Oh, and an important thing. Unless it is a great emergency, do not take her out of the trailer when you stop. Should she get loose, if something spooks her, or she gets upset and won't trailer for some reason, you're pretty much screwed. When I moved across the country, my horses were lucky enough to get out night, since there are horse motels all over that let you rent a stall for the night, and luckily they all were willing to go back in the trailer the next morning. :p
Q: i got a 1992 ford explorer and the axle bearing in the rear are gone out. but i dont know what i need to buy to replace it. im not sure if it takes an inner and outer like the front or does it just take one? please help
Please disregard the first two replies completely. The bearings are NOT pressed onto the axle shafts. They are seated into the ends of the axle tubes. After draining the fluid out of the differential you only need to remove the C-clips that hold the axles in the differential carrier. The axles then slide out. Hold the old bearing against the new bearing while tapping the new bearing in place. This is so you tap it into place evenly. Then tap the bearing seal into place. Re-insert the axle shaft and C-clip. You can get a new axle cover gasket from a parts store or you can use just a layer of black RTV on the cover (works just as well; I use this method). Fill the axle housing back up with fluid.
Q: i heard about bones but are there any others?
doesn't really matter but just ger bones reds, or flip HKD. the best is bones swiss ceramics fer like 100 bucks
Q: should i put a little grease inside the wheel so the bearings slide in easier? they really dont want to go in strait. should i lay the bearing in the hole and put the nut on and tighten the bearing into the wheel? Help....
Do not put grease, grease will wreak your bearings. The best thing to do is buy a skate tool that can help you insert them. If you dont want to do that simply put the bearing on the wheel (where it needs to go) and put the wheel on the truck with the bearing still on the wheel facing the truck. Then just simply push down on the wheel and the bearing will pop into place.
Q: can' not remove old bearings from the wheel hub any clues how
Those bearings are pressed in you need to take the spindle to a machine shop and have the old ones pressed out and the new ones pressed in I have used my air chisle to get them out and my bench vise to install them but its a pain in the a$$ good luck
Q: Recently started getting alot of noise coming from the front of our truck. The sound is like a high pit ch noise the gets louder as the truck picks up speed. I would best describe it as a high pitch or like the sound of really big 4x4 tires as they drive by you on the freeway. I did the standard wheel bearing check. Jacked up the truck and pushed and pulled on the wheel. I get no shake or looseness. I can say that the passenger front doesn't roll as smooth as the driver front. I pulled the hub off and did a close visual and i can see nothing wrong. No leaking, scaring, or looseness. Just the lack of rolling smoothness like the other side. Could this be a bad bearing?
More likely the brake is tighter on that side. If you can , back it off a notch or two and see if that helps. However, at 7 years old it would be a good idea to clean and repack the bearings, or even replace them, the races and seals.
Q: It has a clunk in the front left wheel when driving and when sitting naturally (not jacked up) i can pull on the top of the wheel and it has a loose feel to it and the lug nuts are tight. so i was wondering if it has the wheel bearing that would need to be changed or like a axle bearing needing changed. the difference being that i think you would have to pull the axle to change an axle bearing and the wheel bearing you would need only to pull the tire and rotor. Keep in mind it is a 4wd. thanks.
If you pull on the top of the tire and it has play in it, it could be the wheel bearings, but it could also be the ball joints. You shouldn't have to pull the axle to change either the bearings or the ball joints.
Q: are reflex rob dyrdek bearings any good? if not what kind?
Reflex Bearings
Q: I need some bearings that will not break when they take high impact.... Any help would be great
I used to skate before my knees gave out and I would have to say Bones Reds or Swiss if you can afford them.
Q: Difference between rubbing bearings and roller element bearings?
With roller bearings there are small rollers between the moving and non-moving part so that there would theoretically be no friction. Ball bearings work in a similar way.
