Q: Will the bearings rust if you wipe them with a paper towel?
i've had the same bearings for about 5 years and the only reason why is because of my bearing protectors. i have never cleaned them but i need new ones now. i dont think you should clean them. you should probably buy bearing protectors and you'll be fine. my board has been waterlogged about 3 times and my bearings still survived because of the protectors. well gl skating
Q: A friend of mine had his Nissan repaired recently. He had the timing chain and water pump replaced. A week later, the car dies. He returns to the shop that fixed it. They say his ball bearings are pretty much gone and that he needs a new engine. When he asked what could have caused this, they say that somewhere along the line a previous shop put the wrong trans fluid in his car and that that is the cause of this whole thing. Is this possible?
First a Nissan does not have ball bearings in it. Second how does putting the wrong trans fluid in the trans affect the engine? Two different components. The fluids do not mix from one to the other. Third so your answer is NO this cannot happen. Fourth go to a different shop.
Q: (Forgive me I have no clue about vehicles, a friend of ours mentioned the bearings might be going out. I assume he was talking about the transmission) Is this a slow problem? Does it need immediate attention? Anyone know about costs? And if I am wrong about what I am asking please correct me.*2000 model
it can be a twin issue. The f150 has had multiple problems with bearings interior the rear end. It does no longer impression your potential to shift gears, besides the indisputable fact that. yet another bearing that is noisy is a wheel bearing. Your chum could were suitable, in that an inner issue interior the transmission may be the source of the noise, and hence may be the region consisting of your shifter. ideal case state of affairs is the wheel bearing, or in the different case be prepared to spend $1000 to $2500. i could visit the broking service to work out if there has been any silent remembers. HAVE IT ADDRESSED at modern.
Q: This may seem like a stupid question as I am just learning to skateboard.I bought a brand new complete board with abec 5 bearings and they seem quite stiff. Am I suppose to oil them before I ride or do they eventually loosen up as I ride? Also I took the riser pads off because I heard it makes it easier to learn to ollie, will this help me? I have 51mm wheels so I dont think they will rub against the board. Thanks for your help.
spray a little dwi 3 oil on them.
Q: what are skate board bearings?
the bearings are the little balls in a cirle case...very little, they go into the wheel to make it turn. you can buy them at a local skate shop, NOT SOMEPLACE LIKE K-MART, WAL-MART, (etc.). they can run anywere from $14-$50.
Q: Ive put some 18 wheels on my car (which shouldnt be a problem because I know people with bigger ones on a golf) as soon as they went on, the car makes a howling noise from the front, a bit like a wheel bearings gone, or they are catching on something? There are no scuff marks on the wheels or tyres and I got a mechanic to check the bearings and they are fine, It sounds worse when the car is slowing down, ive also had the wheels checked and balanced, there is nothing wrong with the alloys but one of the tyres was slightly mis-shapen but ive been told thats not the problem, any ideas please? Dont feel safe driving it until I know whats causing itThanks
Hi, the front wheel bearings on the golf's are not a tapered type and are very hard to check for freeplay / wear when car is jacked up...I have worked for VW for 30 years and changed many of the front pressed in type bearings....the only sure way of testing which side bearing is noisy is to spin the wheel up to a high speed with car jacked up and feel the bottom of the shock behind the wheel hub were the hub is bolted to it, if the bearing is worn you will feel a grinding sensation through the hub. This can be very dangerous if you are not careful....we used a mobile wheel balancing machine to spin each wheel up while, it was jacked up on one side... I would not try this if I was you with no training...Get a 2nd opinion from your local VW specialist or come and see me if you are in NW UK...
Q: How many times have you had your front bearings go bad on your Alero, what approximate milage? I'm at 87k and am ready for my third set!
what conditons are your vechicle put through every day,pot holes, bumpy roads all factor in to the life of your bearings, the next question is what brand of bearing are you using,Factory bearings tend to last longer,There has been alot of time and money spent to engineer these vechicles from GM.Hope i helped.
Q: I have been cleaning my bearing about every two weeks. I have been using plain tap water, and a Q-tip. How often do you clean yours, and what do you use?
I okorder /
Q: im a begginer in skateboarding so i wanted to know if abec 5 bearings were good bearings and if not wich ones should i get tahnk u!!!
The abec number is basicaly meaningless for skates and boards. Any abec number can be great or junk depending on the maker. Most non-abec bearings are absolute junk but some of the best companies (Zero Drag, Twin Cam, Bones) specificaly design their best bearings to violate the abec specs to make them better. Getting any of them from a reasonable skate/board company will be good. The main differences in most bearings is the lubricant (grease is slower at first but lasts forever, oil is fast but you need to reoil them more frequently, gels are in between). In some cases the lubricant makes a difference in rust resistance if you hit wet areas. Twin Cam has been known for very high rust resistance and Bones for low rust resistance.
Q: I need to upgrade my wheels and probably bearings for my roller blades they are a 64mm wheel on right now and i know NOTHING about wheels and bearings, like do I have to stick with the same size wheel, can I use current bearings on there etc... I know I would like a nice smooth ride and preferably a gel type wheel... I am on a budget so I know going with a little lower grade bearing and a better wheel will optimize performance on a budget. I am in Canada so an international or Canadian seller is a must and I would like to have a name or model number so I know what to look up specifically if possible please and thank you!
64mm okorder /.. If you buy wheels and bearings, remember to transfer the spacers from your old wheels or buy aluminum ones. The wheels will not roll well without them.
