- Q: I have these skateboard wheels with bearings that have been used for FOREVER, they have probably been in these wheels for more than two years. And this skateboard has been left out in the open all of the time, so the bearings are really really dirty but not too rusted so I am going to try to use them in some different wheels. I have tried to get them out with a screwdriver and using the axel on one of my trucks, but it is so stuck in there with dirt probably that it makes it really difficult to get out, even when I apply a lot of pressure. I don't think it is physically possible for me to get it out with just human force, or maybe it's just me, idk, I have tried and tried and I've already broken one nail trying to get these stupid bearings out and I just want an easier way. What other things can I try to get them out of the wheels? I think they are still usable, probably they just need cleaning.

- Q: I was going to repack my wheel bearings on an older trailer for the first time. I didn't even need a wrench to take the nut with the codder key through it off. Is this normal? There is no way the nut could have loosened before because the codder key wasn't bent or anything. should I reassemble the bearing with the nut being slightly loose like it was? - Bad rod bearings can be heard and replacing the oil pump is recommended but not required. But before doing the work, it might be wise to price a salvage yard engine. This is because the rings, valves and other parts will need to be done next. True it will not have new bearings, but if you don't plan on owning the car for more then a year or two, it might be the wiser move. If you plan on owning the car for sometime, just get the engine rebuilt completely. Other wise it will just be one engine repair after another.

- What bearings? ABEC 5 is just a bearing grade......dosent tell anybody anything other than you currently have ABEC grade 5 bearings. What size, What part do they go on, How many do you need?
- Q: i noticed they had some dirt in them after rideing around a bit and it happens to be from just 2 bearings from 1 wheel, ive completely disasmbled the bearings and tried to put them back to getter but the ball bearings just keep locking up on me !!! its been frustrating me like crazy man, and i know its not from not having lube they always have lube in, its just the reassembly that wont go well.

- Depends on what kinda they are. I've seen cheap $10 Abec 3s and 5s works just as fine as some Bones bearings. As long as you take care of them, they will stay in good condition. But since a decent set of bearings don't cost all that much, just use them until you feel like changing them. I've skated for 5 years and I had a set of bearings that lasted me through out the year. Bones REDS? I'm pretty sure you're familiar with the name. But they are really durable. They ain't fast, but they are durable.
- Q: i need a 2 piece bearing that has plates (like the swivel on a computer chair) but can seperate and be put back together...anyone know how to make this or know where i can get one (i plan on welding a metal disk to each side but i want to be able to seperate the disk when repair is necessary)
- Your description leaves me guessing about your concept. For example is it a journal or a thrust bearing and for what kind of duty (load). The only truly separable bearings I know of are pressurised oil, white-metal lined journal bearings but I'd guess that tilting pad thrust bearings could conceivably be set up in some kind of a separable arrangement - the pads can be individually removed anyway; perhaps this would qualify for your separation requirement?
- Q: Any suggestions? Been lookin around.. found arsenal abec 9s reeeeallly cheep but i cant find them anywhere to see how bad they are if i can get 16 for $10. Secondly my skates are about 4 years old should i get new spacers as well?
- I don't know that brand, but at that price I guess you can't go wrong. I personally use Swiss abec-5's, good performance, speed and durability. And yes do get new spacers while you're at it.
- Q: I heard using mineral spirits is a good way to clean bearings, but I also heard some can end up damaging them
- WD40! Get a can and a small dish / bowl... Fill the bowl up 3/4 complete with this WD40 and enable the bearing soak in it over night. the subsequent morning you may pull them out and wipe them down... ultimately merely grease the bearings and positioned them lower back in.
