Q:What are skateboarding bearings?
They are the things inside the neoprene wheels that mount to the shaft on a skateboard. They are called ball bearings; they make the wheels have less friction on the shaft or axle. You maybe able to see them if you look at the wheel or at least hear them work when you spin the wheel...I think when they wear out, you just buy new wheels with them already molded into them.
Q:ok ever one says bone swiss bearings spin for ever!!! well i just got a brand new. apsolotly fresh out of the case bones bearings and i put em on my board and they only spin for 12 seconds!! when i skate with them will that losen em up?? if you have bones bearings, how long do yours spin? and how do i make em faster
Don't forget, the bearings need time to break in! 12 seconds is good enough! My bones reds only go for about 10. But you can relube your bearings.
Q:whats the best skateboard bearings? i dnt have much money, i spent 50 dollars on an element deck and i bought wheels, trucks, and griptape. Now all i need is bearings i would prefer something under 15 dollars im looking for best price not best quality, i want them to last but im pretty new to skateboarding and all i can do is ollie. I want something cheap. Please help!!!
Dude, you bought all that stuff then went home to ask the internet what bearings to get? That's really weird. just get shop bearings, they're cheap and work fine.
Q:Title says it all
no it doesn't say it all. If you have what the industry calls precision specification bearings, they are garbage. I suspect that you have something else that has a brand name that may not be ABEC rated but they call precision. How hard would it have been to give the brand name and model of the bearings? There is really very little difference in bearings once you get to ABEC 1 and there is nothing in the spec that ABEC 7 rolls any better (the specs could cause them to be slower) or last longer. Most ABEC bearings are made by large industrial bearing makers and sold to various companies. Some of the larger companies that sell skate bearings (Bones, Zero Drag, Twin Cam) have created designs that are better for skating or boarding than the ABEC standards.
Q:I had just laid out 650.00 for a complete brake job at Sears for my step son's car about 3 months ago, and now his right wheel bearing is shot. I would think given the close relationship to the braking assembly to the wheel bearings, this shouldn't have been missed. Am I not understanding something here or does Sears owe me at least 1/2 off my wheel bearing job? I have just learned as well that Ford Focus also had a recall on wheel bearings for certain models. That should have been a red flag there for them if they are any type of a reputable repair service nation wide. Help me please.... I cannot afford any more repairs, but I cannot afford to have him use our cars either.
no! you paid for brakes(way too much by the way). not bearing inspection or anything else. yes there close to each other, but you have to have a reason to inspect something, they(sears) are not going to do ANYthing beyond what you paid for. especially a shop like that where they have 20 yr olds working there, who know almost nothing except to get each job in n out as fast as possible. you might have had better results from a REAL mom pop repair shop where they care a little more. basically the same response for the recall question. a good repair shop MAY have known about recalls, but not sears or pep boys where they dont care if you ever come back or not. you just got a lesson about finding good repair shopps sticking with them for life. oh and by the way... next time time buy a toyota.
Q:I took my car to the dealer within two months of purchasing it (after I had taken it another repair shop--being told that the bearings needed to be replaced). The dealer told me that it was most likely my bearings but that for the time being they were only going to rotate my tires. Now the dealership is telling me that my tires are worn and that I need to replace all four tires. My car had 20K miles on it when I bought it with this tire issue. Thanks for any advice!!!
Depending on the make of vehicle some wheel bearings are sealed units(called hubs) and cannot be re-packed but have to be completely replaced as one unit.Again depending on the make of the vehicle ,bad wheel bearings don't always affect tire wear.Improper alignment usually causes uneven tire wear.To find out if the tires are the original from factory, look at the sidewall of the tire and find the size designation (e.g. 225/55/16).Right above these numbers you will see the following TPC SPEC and a few numbers if the tires are factory originals. Alot of dealers consider alignment as a maintenance item and expect you to pay for it.A good dealer who values your business can do the alignment under warranty. If the vehicle still has the bumper to bumper warranty ,the wheel bearings should be a warranty item, especially if they have truly failed already. Don't be afraid to challenge a dealer.A good dealer will always work with a customer to make them happy. You don't have to buy a car from them but they need to sell you one.
Q:can skateboard bearings fit in scooter wheels
yes skateboard bearings fit into scooter wheels to but i prefer to get swiss bearings cause they go on forever
Q:im getting a evo longboard and i have a stella a form and i want to know if i have to clean my bearings and when should i do it and where do i get them
You should clean your bearings about every month or couple months, or after you have ridden in the sand or water. When you clean you bearings you take off the rubber/metal seal on the bearing. You then place them in Acetone or High % Rubbing Alcohol and shake them around to loosen the dirt. After, you quickly dry them with paper or a towel. Once they are completely dry, you lube them with Bones Lube, White Lithium Grease, or Sewing Machine oil. DO NOT USE WD-40! Then put the rubber seals back on and you are done. Check out tutorials on youtube to get a better understanding.
Q:people always say there bearings make them go faster but i dont think this is true. in my experience its more the wheel you ride that affects speed. size hardness are both factors but bearings just dont make a significant difference. as long as they spin freely and smooth it doesnt matter whether there swiss ceramics or abec 3 because the extra friction in the threes isnt enough to slow you down. unless the threes are rusted and dont spin. is this true? would others agree? ppeople seem to think the bearings have engines or something. i just use 18 dollar redz and keep them in good shape and they work fine
it does effect speed and ill tell you why.. i tested once for a class project on which bearings when broken into go faster... bone swiss, abec 7 bearins (i think rush), bones ceramics and bones reds. abec 7s- they run for about 14-17 seconds if you get 3 good pushes.. bones reds- they run for about 19-22 seconds in 3 good pushes bones swiss- run for about 26-35 seconds in 3 good pushes bones ceramics- runs for about 32-36 seconds in a 3 good pushes.. see it was an experiment in the 7th grade now im in 9th... we did 3 test runs on each bearings first it was the abec 7s, reds, swiss and then ceramics... so yess bearings do effect your speed... but i use reds cause there cheep and i dont wanna spend 90 bucks on ceramics that will break on a 10 stair and bones that give u too much speed when ur doing a simple 5 stair
Q:For a skateboard. Which are better?
Bones Reds try and get ceramic bearings keep maintenance on them every month and don't worry about ABEC ratings cause it counts for nothing and you will have bearings for at least a year or two depending on where and how you skate.
