Q:Will a carpeted floor crack in the sun?
Floor cracking is mainly caused by wood drying and water loss resulting in shrinkage deformation,
Q:How do you clean a big rug?
I have a big living room rug. It is acrylic but a very nice fake persian rug that wasn't cheap. You can only use the following for an acrylic rug, but if it is dirty and stinky, it would work (see for just stinky rugs below). Take it out to a deck or some surface that is not grassy or soily under neath. Hose it down and scrub it with oxyclean and a mild dish detergent, hose it off and then hang it so it will dry (takes a day or so in dry weather. If it is just smelly, get some old fashioned lysol spray (the kind that smells like antiseptic, not the new pretty smelling ones and take the rug outside. Spray the hell out of it and let it sit in the sun for a couple of hours. This will kill the mildew, old clothes smell or whatever is making it smell. You can't use febreeze or something with a nice odor because it will cover the smell, not get rid of it. Good luck
Q:which household carpet is better, polypropylene or acrylic?
acrylic is better, it is more cost-effective.
Q:What about carpet foaming?
Powder cleaning: Sprinkle the powder onto the carpet, then brush it and then vacuum it. This method is not cleaned by water. After cleaning, you can walk on the carpet, but the cleaning power is poor.Spray cleaning: spray the lotion onto the carpet, wipe with foam pad and absorb the stain. This method uses less water and can be washed within a short period of time. But not very suitable for woolen carpets.Warm water stains: use spray and vacuum cleaners to spray warm water onto the carpet, then vacuum it immediately. This operation is simple, do not hurt the pile.
Q:How to decorate with wool area rugs?
The layered look is in, so go ahead.
Q:Can you use vinegar on carpets?
Ammonia will destroy carpet. Vinegar will do nothing to clean it. This is not about the best cheap cleaning product, it is about professional equipment. If you can't drop $1500 on an entry level dual motor extractor, you have no business doing carpet, because you aren't really cleaning it.
Q:How much do rugs, curtains and the like help with reducing noise in an apartment?
It's funny you mentioned water torture. Actually, having a water feature like a fountain or anything that makes a running water noise will help. Place it near a window. I once lived a few doors down from a pedestrian crosswalk in Japan that beeped with one sound for all blind people crossing one direction, and a different beep for going across the other side of the intersection. It was 24 hours a day, and switched about every 25 seconds. I thought I would die at first, but after 3 years (ha ha!) I barely noticed it! Good luck to you!
Q:How do I get my cat to stop peeing on the rug?
She okorder.com/ make sure you follow the instructions exactly.
Q:In the old days, how did they clean carpets?
My great Aunt and great grandmother would sweep the floors well and then lay damp newspaper on the rug. I always thought it was weird but newspaper stuffed in sneakers take the odor out so maybe this was the purpose of the newspaper. If the rug could be put over the clothes line this was done and then beaten with a rug beater. You may have seen a rug beater in an antique shop and it is an heavy piece of wire mounted on a handle that would look like a tennis racket without the strings. A tennis racket could sub for a rug beater.
Q:What to do with old, dirty area rug?
You can rent a cleaner for a day and clean it yourself. Dirt devil vacuums aren't that great for rugs I'm afraid.
