Q:How do I wire a 3 wire fan/light switch?
To make that easy to understand we take fan as light and to turn on the fan you need one neutral wire one hot wire and one ground wire.Switch is a cut circuit device which will install in hot wire(simple circuit).If already it's wired you will have 4 connected wires in the light box which one of the hot wires and neutrals are directly to the light and separate from other wires,(BLACK AND WHITE) so connect them to the fan wires as same color and if you see green wire in fan connect it to the ground(COPPER). Now 3-way wiring is using 2 control for fan. 3-way switch has 3 entry 2on top and 1 in bottom (COMMON) SHOT DOWN POWER FIRST then: 1- connect main hot to first switch (TOP LEFT) 2-connect free hot wire 3/12(RED)to the (COMMON) 3- connect BLACK hot to (TOP RIGHT) 4-connect neutral to neutral and ground to ground 5-send 12/3 after connecting as above to the fan box. 6-IN other switch with another 3/12 wire connect BLACK to (TOP LEFT) 7-connect RED to (TOP RIGHT) 8-Connect WHITE to (COMMON)and by wire tape put a black sign to white wire as return HOT. 9-Send that wire to fan box . A-NOW in fan box connect RED TO RED and BLACK TO BLACK . B-connect NEUTRAL from first switch to the fan neutral wire C-connect all the ground to gather. D-connect WHITE wire from second switch to the BLACK wire of the fan and put the black tape on it to separate that from neutral wire. Before close the switches turn on power and try both switch to make sure one will turn off and another will turn on and opposite.
Q:knob and tube wiring?
Jim W. is spot on. The old wiring may not have a grounding conductor, and the fan would not be grounded. Check to see if there is a old screw in the back of the inside of the box, that is holding down a bare wire. If so, as long as the ground wire has not been cut anywhere, and is still connected, it should be grounded. Any electrician can test it with a tester, and tell if the box is grounded. If not, you are connecting the green to the box, but it is not connected to anything. MAKE SURE THE BOX CAN HOLD THE FAN, and in the installation instructions, it tells you to add large wood screws, through the mounting bracket, into SOLID wood. If the fan is not tight, it WILL wobble..

The current will be more dense in the smaller wire. The value of the current is inversely proportional to the resistiance of the wire. Resistance = resistivity * length / Area since the wires are of identical material and length, the only thing left to vary is the cross-sectional area. Area is proportional to the square of the radius (diameter), so the current will be proportional to the square of the diameter. I2 is proportional to I1^2 I2 is larger than I1 .
Q:wiring / ohms / amp help?
myself I even have 2 - jl w6's under pressure to 3 ohms. under pressure to a fosgate 4 channel amp, the two channels bridged and the amp sees a million/2 ohm after bridging and the amp works positive with the best points set at 0 i are not getting the suitable overall performance this type and would desire to cord to 6 ohms. and bridge to 3 ohms and this would be greater suitable yet have not tried it yet will interior the destiny. shop this set up if it sounds reliable yet seem interior the destiny to get an amp or subs that artwork at the same time.
Q:Wiring connections for bathroom ventilation??
First of all, I agree with Peter K, and you must get those instructions--Very Important! How a fixture is wired depends upon its location in relation to the wires that lead from the main service entrance. So really no one can tell you for sure how to wire your ventilation fixture up without Seeing it. Also, how many switches are involved..1,or 2 or 3? Usually, White wires are always neutral, black always hot. BUT- in certain switch installations both black and white wires could be hot too. Red wires are used for grounding. Now there are improved grounding systems for greater safety, other colors involved, and jumper wires that are connected to the receptacle for a continuous ground. So that is why every one has answered your Q with caution about telling you how to do it. Sorry, I wasn't much of a help either!
Q:i want litz wire?
20 amps is a lot. Litz wire's advantage is for use at RF frequencies, since RF current flows on the surface of the wire mostly. Linz wire because of the large number of strands, conducts RF much better that ordinary stranded wire or solid. Litz 175/40, 175 strands of #40, sells for $15 for 75 feet. #40 is 1.07 ohms per foot dividing by 175, that is 0.006 ohms per foot, about #18, which would not carry 20 amps. Ref has more sizes.
