Q:my old light fixture had 2 white wires (from ceiling) twisted together and connected to a screw, it also had a green wire (from ceiling)connected to it with a screw.no black wires were connected to light fixture although they are 3 wires in the ceiling taped off together.how do i test for hot wire, i got a tester that lights up.i got a new light fixture that has 3 wires, 1 wht 1blk and copper.i know the copper goes with green, white with white and black with black. so i untangled the black wires, and i connected one to new light.but now my new light doesnt turn off.so i know i by passed my switch.how do i test for hot wire....where does the hot wire go?is it possible one of the white wires is my hot wire and the other white whire my neutral....so help please, im confused and frustrated
with lights you can have many things going on and the colors may not be indicitive to what wire it is. Especially if there is more than one switch or light. So you really have to know what is going on. It sounds to me like you have more than one switch. This means those white wires that were bundled together have to stay together. you should have someone else flick the switches. Look up switch leg on google, and you will see various ways this is done.
Q:Ceiling fan has Green, Blue, black and white and the ceiling only has a black wire and white wire.
blue and black to black and white to white. (blue is for the light) If you look deeper in the ceiling you should find a bare copper wire and that would go to the green. (if you cant find it,then wire as stated)
Q:I wanted to ask, im busy installing a new stereo headset for my car, when i replaced the old stereo with the new one, i used the wire harness from the old stereo and joint the wires to the back of new the stereo (which there is another black adapter that goes in the wire harness area on the the new stereo) i did this by connecting the wires from the stereo adapter to the wire harness that connects to the car, although the adapter that connects to the stereo has more wires than the wire harness that connects to the car,( i only connected the wires that were matching such as grey wire to grey wire, grey wire with black strip to grey wire with black strip, and so on, i obviously didn't connect the colours that didn't match to the wire harness wires, although i looked up online and apparently the yellow wire is a power wire, but i don't know where to connect it......if anyone could help, this would be greatly appreciated , i also wanted to ask, would this solve the problem if i buy a new wire harness? Thanks
What kind of car is it? That's important, especially if it's a foreign make because those wires are so weird colored. Typically, yellow or ornage is power, red is memory, and the purple, gray, white, green wires are for the speakers .Black or brown wires are ground. Any blue wires you might come across are mainly just auxiliary signal wires that go to an aftermarket amp and subwoofer setup. Unless you have something like that, those wires can be taped off and forgotten about. Also, when wiring an aftermarket radio to your car, you will need to purchase an adapter harness that plugs into the stock wiring of the car and the wires connect to the radio wire harness correspondingly. I suggest soldering all the necessary wires and sealing them with shrink tube. It's the most solid, most sure way of a good connection without the worry of shorts and disconnections.
Q:What causes signal Loss and Distortion in Copper Wire?
the resistance of the wire itself can be responsible for signal loss. electromagnetic fields may cause distortion. Another possibility is if the signal is not terminated properly you may experience a reflection of the signal traveling in opposition of the desired signal. Heat can cause loss or distortion. corrosion on the copper wire may also cause loss or distortion of the signal.
Q:Is there special speaker wire in order to run 250 watts max rms or will the oem speaker wire in the car be sufficient (did not originally have an amp and is most likely at 50 watts max rms). If I need a special wire for that please let me know what it is called and possibly an example link. Thanks!
most likely the wire pre ran in the car was 16 guage wire which is fairly small id recomend atleast 12G for speakers and 8G for a power wire.
Q:does bigger power, ground, speaker wires give more power 2 the amplifier?
Bigger power and ground wires will help, up to a point. If your wires are already big enough that you don't have a significant voltage drop between the battery and the amp, then bigger cables won't help anything.
Q:I have a 2004 mit lancer and im trying to instal 2 sets of kicker rs65.2 door speakers having trouble with the back the wires on the right are yellow and one has a red stripe the other has a green stripe and the left speaker is a solid green and blue wire how in the heck am i suppose to match those up with the black and red the right seems obvious but i dont want to mess anything up

Q:Hello,I am trying to figure out what type of metal jewelry wire I need for a beading project. I found mostly copper wire at the craft store, as well as a smaller variety of aluminum and brass wire. Is this copper wire (came in many colors) a durable wire? It seemed very soft. Is there a stronger wire on the market? I am mostly looking for 22-28 gauge wire. Thanks!
There okorder / and also look at the page on wire gauge chart. Hope this will help you to purchase the correct wire for your project.
Q:A thin wire connected to a light bulb will have the bulb shine dimmer than a thicker wire. What is the scientific reasoning for this?
Thin wires are usually used to make heat because there is more resistance going through a thin wire. In an incandesent bulb 60% OF THE OUTPUT IS HEAT. If thee is thicker wire, more electrons go through and the light can be brighter.
Q:I plugged in my new Pioneer DEH-P6500it worked for a little bit until i moved it around a littlethe speakers started to go out but the subs still sounded finei messed around with it and found the wire responsible for it allits a red wireit says AAC or somethingif i messed with the copper twist the speakers would come in and outi stripped the wire a little and put it back together but now the head unit wont even turn onand im also left with like 2 inches of red wireis my only option to get a new pioneer wire harness?what is the problem?the red wire i think supplies the power to the whole head unit because when its not connected, the whole thing turns onbut only the speakers go on and off when i messed with itbut it wont turn on anymore
The red wire is the ignition wire. There are two wires that supply power to your head unit. One is the yellow wire which is a constant source of power. This keeps all your settings on the radio and the clock. The red wire is used to switch on your head unit. When you turn on your car the wire gets power and turns your head unit on. First, like said before, make sure the wire is getting power by checking fuses. There should be one in the head unit and one in your car's fuse panel. If that is not it then you will want to see if the wire is split somewhere. An easy way to check if the wire is getting power is if you have a DMM (digital multimeter). Then just check if there is voltage in the wire. Your car must be on to check this though. Good Luck!!! Edit: DMMs are cheap, you can get one for around $15. They have even cheaper ones if you get it at Harbor Freight.
