- Q: Ok so i play some pretty high demand games as far as graphics and processing go and my current set up is just...meh and dealing with it. The video card is pretty out dated and its just time to get a new one. I was wondering if anyone had some suggestions before i start buying or building a new one(yay for being a computer science major lol)I don't need anything too out there but something with some nice OOMPH would be great
- Until Bulldozer is not released Intel i5 2500K is still the king, and I doubt AMD will match it anyways. Though if you are looking at lower price range AMD Phenom II X4 955 has no competition (i3 2100 is still a dual core and wins mostly in encoding). 4GB RAM is enough. Video card - minimum I suggest GTX 550 or ATI 6770, better with GTX 460 or 560 or ATI 6850/6870, and anything above but with decreasing oomph for the $ value. You can try aiming to that computer below and just buy all your own parts, it will be a good one:
- Q: At my school we have a 70s (possibly) Case 450B bulldozer and the blade doesn't work any more. my teacher thinks that it might be the hydraulic pump but I'm unsure. so if any one has any thoughs on what might be wrong would be helpful.
- I would have though someone would check to see that it had hydraulic fluid in the tank and the shut off valve was in the on position. After that you need to go to the pump it will be in the front driven off the crank shaft. There are U-joints that might be broken and the pump is not turning. There is also a valve on the output side of the pump (smaller line) that allows the fluid to be pumped back to tank if there is no demand for pressure IE: trying to move the blade. There should be a test port on the pressure side on the hydraulic system you will need to look for that I'm not sure if it will be on the hydraulic valve at the pump or at the 4 way valve which the hand control go to. Pressure under no load should be about 50 lbs but you will need a gauge that can handle over two thousand pounds which is what it should pump before the relief valve comes in. It is not likely that the pump is so far gone that it will not try to move the blade so do the easy things first like make sure the oil is on and that the handle is connected to the 4 way valve then check the drive shaft to the pump and the dirverter valve on the pump. You may need to remove that valve to inspect it. There is one more thing that will stop the blade from moving and that would be the packing in the hydraulic cylinder. If it is bad enough in one of the cylinders the fluid could be just pumped back to tank. You may be able to find that out with a stereoscope by putting it on the cylinder and listen for fluid movement on each cylinder. In fact if there is enough fluid movement you could feel it with your hands. You do know someone will have to hold the handle in the up movement.

- No, the CPU is sufficient for that graphics card. One thing I will say though is that the AMD FX chips are crap compared to the Intel Core i5-2500k and they're similarly priced. It would be a much greater investment to go Intel than AMD. Could probably save money by choosing AMD graphics over NVIDIA too but I wouldn't complain about that, it's still a good card.

- fx 6300 would be better then i3 but thats the max you could go in terms of upgradability fx 6100 is basicly older brother of fx 6300 but fx 6100 was a horrible for gaming fx 6300 was the improved version which games fine without issue

- trust the sturdy processor and adequate ram, feels like the amd 6000 sequence runs properly while gaming and that sli nvidia gts 450 will run your video games at extreme settings with little or no subject additionally applies concerning to the sturdy processor and ram it is as much as you, advise the 6870 if possible crossfire
