Q:Hi.My diesel electric generator has a sticker that says Change oil every 100hrs. Use 10w-30 grade CC. But I can't find this oil anywhere. The closest I have found are 10w-30 Mobil1 synthetic oil (API SM/CF) and 15w-40 Pennzoil gold (with diesel protection, API CJ, CI, CF etc. /SM). Which one should I use? Thanks!
I beleive that CC is obsolete. Search diesel engine oil and find the one that matches your engine type.
Q:what is diesel power plan or station & how it is work?
In diesel power plant the power is produced by a Diesel Engine. The diesel engine used may be 2 stroke or four stroke It is used only for small amount of power production Working: Diesel engine is coupled with generators or alternator for generating electricity
Q:I am installing a 7,7 KW diesel 110v generator on my boat. I need to know the main breaker disconnect size in amps
Within the USA the national electrical code for wall outlets call for using 12 gauge wire and a 20 amp breaker and a 20 amp outlet. They have to be sized together like this. If you are using heavy duty equipment that draws a lot of amps then only have 1 outlet on that circuit. You really should consult a local electrician on this.
Q:I have noticed that many people leave their computers on all day for some reason. I would like to know why and if its better or worse for the computer than to just turn it off. Also, is it more efficient to leave it on?Anyway, the only thing I would like to know is why do many people leave their computers on all day and if you are one of them, why?
i leave my computer on 24/7 cause if you keep turning it on or off it is likely that your data maybe lost or one of your components might fail.
Q:Are they cranked by a self starter? Is there such an immensely powerful self starter that runs off batteries and can start such a big engine?Or are they started by some gasoline powered motor?
A diesel engine is started (like an automobile) by turning over the crankshaft until the cylinders fire or begin combustion. The starting can be done electrically or pneumatically. Pneumatic starting was used for some engines. Compressed air was pumped into the cylinders of the engine until it gained sufficient speed to allow ignition, then fuel was applied to fire the engine. The compressed air was supplied by a smallauxiliary engine or by high pressure air cylinders carried by the locomotive. Electric starting is now standard. It works the same way as for an automobile, with batteries providing the power to turn a starter motor which turns over the main engine. In older locomotives fitted with DC generators instead of AC alternators, the generator was used as a starter motor by applying battery power to it.
Q:I read about it in an old Mother Earth news (1993?) The car was mainly powered by the gen. The batteries would only kick-in for hills, boost of power, etc. I am interested in this design, anyone know if it works well? Can I use a 480volt 3ph gen-set to power motor/Drive for more efficiency/power? I already know about the volt, prius, leaf.
Good luck driving a car wiht a 10 horsepower motor.
Q:I own a 2300 square foot home with an upstairs and downstairs heatpump. If I wanted to buy a generator to use in the event my power went down what size should I shoot for. I would like to be able at a minimum to provide upstairs heat (1000 square feet), maintain the fridge and provide minimal light at night. Basic survival type stuff. Also how much fuel would normally be consumed running for 24 hours? Thanks I know this is vague so generalities are fine.

Q:Hi, I am trying to find a video or text based tutorials for backup generator on internet but i was unable to find a single. i am trying to find complete tutorial of mechanic and how to fine tune generators. hope here anyone knows about it.
I am generator technician, what specific things are you looking for?
Q:I understand it as far as the diesel engine driving the generator- or is it an alternator?- to power the motors which turn the wheels. But does each wheel have its own motor, or is it one motor per axle?
Earlier diesel-electric locomotives used a d.c. generator and d.c. traction motors. In more recent years - since around the 1990s - a.c. alternators have been used, as suitable a.c. traction motors have been developed. Generally, modern diesel-electrics (and electric locomotives) have one traction motor per axle. I am not completely 'au fait' with US practice, but in Europe and many other countries diesel and electric locomotives are classified by wheel arrangement. Thus, a locomotive with two four-wheeled bogies (or trucks), with motors on each axle is classified as a 'Bo-Bo': i.e., 'B' signifying two axles, with the 'o' signifying that each is motored. A typical US twelve-wheeler is a 'Co-Co', and so on. Earlier locomotives - in the UK, for example - were heavier than those produced today for the same power output. They therefore had additional unpowered carrying axles, denoted by figures. For example, the early main line locomotives had a 1Co-Co1 wheel arrangement: two eight wheel trucks, the leading axle of each being unpowered, with motors on the other three. The mid range locomotives produced by Brush Traction were of the A1A-A1A arrangement, consisting of two six wheel/three axle trucks, each with motors on the end axles, and the centre axle un-powered. We even had some odd-ball five axle locomotives with a 'Co-Bo' wheel arrangement. Mechanical transmission is also used on light shunting locomotives and railcars, whilst hydraulic transmission was popular for a while in Germany and the Western Region of British Railways, but is now used for most diesel multiple-unit trains.
Q:Difference between diesel generator and gas turbine generator set
the performance of gas generator set is good, the success rate is high
