- I have the purple dyson animal 07. I love it for the most part. You wouldn't believe how much that thing picked up the first time, and still picks up. That being said, I got a special deal on mine or I wouldn't have bought it. It was on sale at Kohls for $450, and then I got about $100 Kohls cash back when I purchased it, and a $100 Kohl's gift card by mail, making the Dyson about $250. It's a good vacuum, but not worth $500. There are comparable vacuums out there in the $200- $300 range (Oreck IS NOT one of them, don't get an Oreck). It's very easy to empty, but here's the thing, no matter how good the suction is, the roller still gets clogged and tangled with hair. I have long hair, and we have a golden retriever, so I'm cleaning that roller about every other week. And it makes a really bad sound when it gets too tangled. But I think that would be the case with any vacuum. It is easy to use, and pretty. I think the attachments are also a little pricey. I do like the cleaner, Zorba, that comes with it.

- I have a german shepherd/malamute mix who sheds 24/7 and I ended up getting a Dyson Animal vacuum cleaner. It was a little more expensive, but it was well worth the money. It never loses suction and it really gets all the hair up even the ones deep inside the carpet. I'd get another one in a minute. I've had mine now for almost 4 years and it works as well now as it did the day I bought it. No filters to change, no bags to worry about, easy to keep clean, and it looks nice too.
- Q: We were looking to get a few rooms professionally cleaned in our home. However, what is the biggest diff btw. Chem-dry places and regular companies, like COIT or Stanley Steemer. - Q: if you brought a battery operated conventional vacuum cleaner into space, in theory would it work? would it be able to create the internal vacuum to make it work? ( I am thinking along the lines of positive and negative pressure)
- No. A vacuum cleaner works by driving all the air out of the interior cavity to create a negative pressure inside. The greater atmospheric pressure outside then forces air in to fill the interior, and this is a continuous cycle. In space there would be no air either inside or outside the vacuum cleaner, so the motor would have no effect whatsoever. Even if you had air inside it for the motor to expel, there is still zero pressure outside and hence nothing to take its place.
