Q:Does anyone know what those valves are/do in my picture?http://img223.imageshack.us/my.php?image=dsc00531it9.jpg
I'm a licensed Plumber and this is what those are for....if you doubt me contact Delta and speak with their customer service reps... Those are Isolation valves that plumbers use to turn off the water to you shower to make repairs within the shower valve its self (O rings...mixing cartridge, etc).....otherwise the water would have to be shut off to the whole house when making a repair. That and if you look closely they are NOT part of the valve its self....the look like valves that are attached (Threaded) to the Hot Cold inlets on the valve. My first guess...that is a Delta, Monitor, Shower Valve. Maybe a Moen positemp...but I'm pretty sure its a Monitor Series Delta valve. They're are BOTH very similar.
Q:1. Why is there an exaust valve. Isnt it only a port. Where do the gases that go into the exaust valve go?2. How does air enter the intake valve. If you look at a push rod diagram, you cant see where the air is enteringCan someone explain to me the valve concept
You're not dumb for trying to learn. In a 4 stroke engine the air goes into the intake manifold and into the intake ports on the head. There it interacts with the valve, which when opened allows the air to be drawn into the cylinder. Then the engine goes through the power stroke and then the exhaust is forced out through the exhaust valve.
Q:Does anybody know what the valve lash specs are on a 1986 chevy sprint 1.0L carbureted?
1986 Chevy Sprint
Q:like my Acura has a 16v 4clyinder engine , and i dont know what valves does , the more vavles the faster?
Valves are in the Cylinder Head, They let Air and Fuel into the combustion chamber. 4 vavles let more air and fuel in than 2 vavles, Which makes more power.
Q:Beneath my kitchen sink are two shut off valves for the water; one for hot, one for cold. The hot water valve has never successfully stopped all water flow, so we've always resorted to shutting off the main line. Well, now that's not working. We shut off the main water line to the house, all water everywhere is non-functioning except for the hot water pipe beneath my sink. It's now causing the faucet to constantly stream water, so it's something we have to resolve ASAP. I'd like to avoid calling a plumber, but my knowledge in such areas is very limited. Can anyone give me any decent suggestions? For the record, I did take apart the faucet fixture just in case, thoroughly cleaned it, and replaced all of the washers I had access to; but we only just bought the faucet in September, so I can't see a worn washer as being the problem. I also tried to tighten the nut behind the handle on the valve. It didn't effect the dripping.
The faucet is the problem, not the valve under it. If you just bought the faucet, it shouldn't have any washers in it. Washerless faucets have been the norm for 15 to 20 years now. You need to replace o rings or entire cartridges and the cartridge valve seats. Cartridges are designed to only work one way, but can be installed backwards, so pay close attention to directions that come in the package. To get the proper parts, you need the manufacturer of the faucet (Moen, Peerless or whatever) and you need to know if it's a one handle or two handle faucet and if it's a vanity or kitchen faucet. When getting these parts, you are better of going to a small hardware store or plumbing supply store. They do sell them at Lowe's and Home Depot, but the personalized, professional and knowledgeable customer service at a small hardware or plumbing supply store is invaluable if you don't know exactly what you need. The guy in the plumbing department at Lowe's may or may not know what he is talking about. If you type replacing faucet cartridge and seats into google, you will come up with several videos and how to web sites to show you how to do the job. You should also look at replacing the valve under the sink and the main, so you can shut the water off all of the way. Sometimes on the main if you just open it and close it a couple of times it will break up the lime residue on it and work properly. If it leaks externally, rebuild or replace it.
Q:The timing belt in my 93 honda accord went out going about 45mph,i then paid someone 150 dollars to put in the new timing belt and it began to shake and he told me that the valves were bent.....i went to a local mechanic and he told me that the valves in honda accords dont bend...is this true?and how much is an average cost to repair the valves and pay someone to do all this?can i do it myself?
hey, the same thing happened to my car ok, you can fix it but it will take you a lot of time first, you will need to remove all the components such as alternator, exhaust headers , intake and head cover since you paid to get the belt put on, go ahead and mark it with a white out pen so you know where each tick mark goes and you dont have to pay again now you will need a deep 14 inch socket and a torque wrench ( can be borrowed from autozone ) now remove the 14 bolts carefully and lift the head straight up now that you have the head out, it is a good time to replace the head gasket as well take the head to a local machine shop and have it rectified now in a closed area remove the valves and valve covers and put in new ones then its just a matter of putting everything back together I wish I could help you cuz I know it sucks when this happens But go ahead and buy the Chilton book at your local Autozone and it has step by step instructions I took me about a week the first time I did this, and i was just a novice trying to avoid big charges :)
Q:All i see is portal and l4d Valve must of discontineud Half life. Its been 6 years they should at least tell us the making the game. I guess this means half life is dead and the last one is ep.2 why valve? why? tell us its coming to xbox 360!
hmm they might make a 3 or episode 3 but right now theyre big thing is portal 2 so we'll just wait till after portal 2 comes out
Q:i dont get how valves produce the sound? and why did we change to solid state? was that because they we're used in stereos?
Most valve amps I have used reproduce the sound of a tube amp. Tubes have a warm sound and can be overdriven to get that good rock crunch distortion sound. We went to solid state because they were durable and didn't require the maintenance of a tube amp. Printed circuits and transistors cut the cost of manufacturing. The old tube amps still have the purpose and they never quite matched the exact sound of tubes with the solid state amps. That is why they are making a lot of tube amps now.
Q:as we are strating centrifugal pump with discharge valve close and can not start positive displacement comp. with disch. valve closed
I assume you are asking about a centrifugal compressor being driven by a gas turbine. You didn't state the service the compressor was in but it is possible in some services for the centrifugal compressor to add a load to the gas turbine's output shaft during the starting cycle. By having the valves closed, there is only the load from compressor wheels) and shaft being accelerated to operating speed. This would permit the gas turbine controls more lee way to get the turbine speed under control before adding significant load to the output shaft. Another consideration is the need to load the compressor in a manner that would get it past the surge point and into a stable operating regime. This can best be done with the compressor at operating speed and a fairly quick addition of load.
Q:Im trying to make an apparatus that would allow you to breathe in from one tube and exhale through another is their a valve that does this. I originally thought that a one way valve might work however I cannot find one that works with suction.
Position two backflow preventers in oposite directions on your supply and exhaust line. connect them to a Tee fitting. the third end of the tee is where you will breathe
