Q:My little cousin cries a lot when I turn the vacuum on and the dog runs away barking. Why? Sorry if this was a dumb question, I was just curious.: We had a Golden Retriever who would sit for hours with shot guns going off and never budge. A vacuum cleaner sent her under the bed. We now have a year old Yellow Lab who thinks it's a toy and attacks it and tries to chew it the moment it comes out of the closet. If we want to clean the dog has to be put in another room. I hate vacuum cleaners. They are noisy. But reality says I have to use them now and then. So I guess I'm saying there is no one rule fits all for liking/disliking vacuum cleaners.

Q:My old vacuum cleaner is slowing breaking down. I've been looking around at new vacuum cleaners and everyone talks about how good the Dyson vacuum is. Is it worth it?: Not really. I've decided I hate bag-less vacuums and will never buy another. I loved my Rainbow (broken) vacuum and will get one of those or one with a bag.

Q:Do Roomba robot vacuum cleaners actually vacuum, or are they just sweepers?: It okorder /... We have one, and it is much more effective - particularly on carpet - than a sweeper. It has a bit of trouble moving around on deep, loose shag carpet, but it's great on hard floors, rugs and other carpet types. HBJ

Q:Why do dogs get so freaked out by vacuum cleaners?: Because they are so loud and their hearing is more sensitive than ours. It probably hurts their ears.

Q:vacuum cleaners are pink for little girls BUT any sex can grow up and vacuum.....WHY?: eh, boys are just into that, as a girl, I don't think most of us ever really cared, I still don't. To me it's a piece of metal you can get places in- for boys there's this whole facination with the actual car I agree, I find the vaccum cleaners offensive, though!! Seriously... it's like household chores, how is that only for girls!!! I see stuff like that all the time.. ugh. There was a guy on wife swap who called it skirt work :( but then the new wife made him see what it was like to do all the work like his wife did!! that made me laugh!! But the cooking ones are a little taboo... it is usually like housework, feeding the family, but chefs both women and men can make a career out of it, it's more like an art for them- like there are some really good cooking colleges and stuff.

Q:Are there any full-size vaccum cleaners that are battery operated, rather than dragging around that long cord?: There are such vacuum cleaners generally used for gardens or lawns.

Q:Usually I just have to sweep kitty litter off the bathroom floor, but now I have some on my carpet. Is it ok to use a vacuum?: Can You Vacuum Cat Litter

Q:Our old dryer wouldn't dry clothes so we replaced it with a brand new one. We're having the same problem so I'm assuming the vent is blocked. I'm not very handy and I electrocute myself routinely so I want to make sure I'm not doing anything dangerous if I hop on the roof with and try fishing any crap out of the vent. Suggestions or warnings?: You can buy a dryer vent cleaning kit. Look at home supply stores like Lowe's and Home Depot. follow the instructions and it will be like new again. It does take two people; one at the base of the vent and another in the attic or where the dryer vents.
