Q:I have a stain on my carpet. It's from tanning lotion cream. The carpet is beige, and wool. Is there any way I could get this out?
Sorry, I don't know much about cleaning carpets. I'm just trying to get this off of my recommended questions. Good luck!
Q:What harm does inferior carpet have to people?
Total volatile organic compounds is inferior in the carpet of indoor air pollutants harm in a serious, can cause the body's immune imbalance, affecting the central nervous system function, make the body dizziness, chest distress and other symptoms in a short period of time. Long term exposure can cause convulsions and memory loss, which can damage the liver, kidneys and even increase the risk of leukemia.
Q:My sister has a 9x12 area rug that laid flat on hardwood floors and now that she wants to put it on carpet, it curls on the edges and bunches in the middle. Is there any way to keep it flat? It's a beautiful rug, but right now she has it rolled up against a wall.
That is a result of laying over your wall to wall carpet and the CUSHION under it. As you walk on it the rug is depressed and wrinkles because it's not anchored like the wall to wall carpet is. Don't use tape. It will stick to your wall to wall carpet. There is a Rug Pad, very thin, non slip, which you can buy, made for rugs over carpet. It use to come in rolls 4 1/2 feet width and would take two pieces 12 feet each. Actually it should be trimmed about 2-3 inches short. There is one for hard surface floors. Do not get that one. Be sure ir's for rug over carpet.
Q:My puppy decided to chew the carpet going from my living room into my kitchen (which is laminate). Unfortunately, my attempts thus far have just made things worse. I was trying to put a transition piece in, but could not get it to stick since beneath the carpet is just concrete. My lease is up in 3 weeks and I'm getting a bit panicked. I read online that you can take a piece of carpet from a closet and use that piece to seam to ripped carpet, then grab some similar carpet from the store to replace the closet area. Any suggestions to make this process go easier? I think I just need a tack strip and some special tape that I get from lowes. Any other suggestions?
I would suggest you to hire professionals for carpet repairs because carpet repairing is very laborious job. I think this would really help you
Q:Our dog chewed up a decent size chunk of carpet in our rental townhome. There is chunk pulled out and stripped about 6 inches from the wall in a corner. We live in a rented townhome so I know we're gonna take a hit to repair or replace it. My question is, can this possibly be repaired by cutting a portion out and just patching it with matching carpet? I know that the right people can make the seam pretty unnoticeable. Or, do you think they'll make us pay to replace the whole carpet?
Depends on the type of carpet that was installed. Some apts have a cheaper grade carpet in them and some times you just can t make a repair not show . Even a good seam job it may show because getting the exact same carpet you ll have a different dye lot and that sticks out worse than a bad seam. Even if you have a left over scrap pc the installed carpet can be dirty, ( even a cleaning won t get it back to the exact same) sun faded or even worn. This will all depend on the LL and what he/ she will accept. But be prepared to have to replace the carpet. If you have renters insurance , check into that. GL
Q:How to clean up the rubbish in the long haired carpet
After heavy snow, put blanket on clean snowfield, and beat both sides with s stick, then you are able to remove most of the dirts.
Q:When we finally peeled it off, it left behind all the stuff that was under it including pieces of the fuzzy part. Anyone know what I can use to get it off?? Right now my hubbs and I are scraping it off but it is taking forever. Thanks in advance!!
I know exactly what you are saying, if these rugs are left on a wet or humid floor they will stick to it ,and when you wash them they make a mess in the washer, to remove the sticky stuff from the floor spray some white vinegar on it and scraping gently this will take care of it . The next time that you buy a rug , get one with no backing , 100% cotton this will not stick to the floor.
Q:Hi i was planning on buying a traditional looking rug for my living room to go underneath a cherrywood coffee table what i wanted to know is what are the measurements I shold look out for? I don't want a huge area rug or a runner but a rectangular rug big enuf that the coffee table can go on it but not too big that takes up half the living room. THanks looking for measuremets!
We had, or I should say Mom and Dad had a beautiful Blue and turquoise shag rug under the coffee table. It was about 10 inches bigger than the table, on all ends. It wasn't as long as the sofa though. Looked real good. Byee
Q:Ok i have double-sided beige rug and i accidentally bleached it leaving big white circles and blobs. Can i use an orange crayon, color it in then use an iron and iron the rug to make the orange crayon into a dye? I dont have actual dye? Will the orange crayon turn beige when I iron over it?
Hi, dear friend. You'd better just color your rug all in orange.
Q:Its been about 24 hours since we cleaned the carpet ourselves with a rented machine but the carpet is still wet in places. Should we give it more time? Its cool in the basement, but hot and humid outside. I'm guessing opening windows is not a good idea?
That is quite bad actually. Remember mold and mildew take 72 hours to grow. A good idea is to turn on some fans to try to get the carpet and padding to dry. However it probably won't until you get whatever is left in the pad to be extracted. You're going to have to hire a professional carpet cleaner to extract the water that was left over. Find a truck mounted carpet cleaning company in your area and ask if they have a waterclaw. A waterclaw would be best for spot extraction. It focuses on removing the moisture that has seeped into the padding. They can also use a wand. This service will usually run your from $70 - $150 depending on your location and what damage has already been done to the carpet. I'm sorry there is no easy way around this. But you want to get that water extracted asap before it causes serious damage to your home and you have to get the carpet and padding placed.
