Q: Hi,I am puzzled a little bit. I always thought that the expression FLOOR can have many meanings (like carpet, hardwood flooring, other kinds of flooring, tiles...). However I found out that the word floor is used only for hardwood flooring, vinyl flooring and other types of flooring. Therefore I would like to ask, which expression represents all those words including carpet and tiles. I was not able to find that word using google, so I am trying it here. :-) Will be thankful.: A floor means, essentially, bottom part of whatever you're talking about, the part you would walk on if you were walking on it. You can have an ocean floor or a forest floor, for instance. These days, a floor usually means the one in a building, but it used to mean and still can mean the ground or the sidewalk if you're outdoors. Flooring(or flooring material) means something much more specific, the stuff that's on the floor of your house which is primarily intended to look nice. Underneath that stuff is the real floor of the house, usually called a subfloor, which is part of what keeps the house standing, part of the structure. If you wanted to know if someone has tile or carpet in their house, asking what kind of flooring they have would be the clearest way of asking that. Asking what kind of floor they have says the same thing but isn't quite as specific.

Thank you.: You need to float the floor to make it flat. Do NOT use extra adhesive. It will never dry and will come up between the tiles for years. Use any good brand of float, Henry has one. Sand after it drys for a completely smooth floor. A pro installer will spend MORE time with the prep than the installing.

Q: Kitchen floor has particle board sub floor with luan cover and a vinyl floor, the floor moves cracking the vinyl. Want to put down 3/4 solid wood floor. What should I do?: If you want to put down 3/4 solid wood, you must remove the vinyl and luan and nail down this thick of hard wood. This full solid wood does NOT come in a locking system and float over the floor. Only 1/2 ( some rare 5/8 ) and thinner comes in the snap together and floats over the existing flooring. No need to nail or glue this type of flooring. This is normally a laminate but will come in a engineered wood. 3/4 hard wood is totally different from any type of floating floor. Q: We have hardwood floors and it is driving me crazy! Anyone know a somewhat simple, inexpensive treatment?: A squeak in hardwood flooring is caused by two pieces of wood rubbing against one another. One way to stop the sound is by reducing the friction of the moving pieces using a lubricant. I’m not talking oil here, but rather a dusting with ultra-fine graphite powder. This is available at your local hardware stores, and for the most part it’s used to free lock mechanisms. But if you pour a tiny bit of it on the floor so that it can work its way into the squeaking boards, it could very well reduce or eliminate the sound. If that fails, you can always try a pair of well-placed nails. You first need to pre-drill some slender holes into the wood, angled slightly towards one another. Then drive the nails in, being careful not to bang up the hardwood floor with the head of the hammer.

I used B/C exterior grade (inside grade plywood will delaminating just about earlier than you get it home), saturated in poly resin (with out catalyst). The top surface, I protected with one layer of fiberglass. It would not must be mounted down; unless you expect to turn the boat the other way up, gravity does an excellent job retaining it down. I elected not to carpet, it's lovely handy to simply hose it down on the finish of the day, and the fiberglass makes a reasonably good non-skid surface. It gets kinda scorching in the summer, I from time to time wet it down. A coat of white paint would make it cooler, but that is quite a lot of hindrance for my historical boat.

Q: ok i have a cement floor in my room cuz im in the basement. i really dont want it so what can i put there? i was thinking carpet but it sounds way to hard to put carpet on cement. in my top floor theres this stuff my ma put where it looks like hardwood but it is plastic and its just like double sided tape on it. should i do this?: it's really not hard to put carpet onto cement, most council houses have cement bottom floors.
