- Q:Can anyone recommend an inexpensive vacuum for hardwood floors?
- For hardwood floors I wouldn't use a vacuum. Just use a regular broom and dustpan. Then mop your floors. I use Murphys oil cleaner that you mix with water and mop your hardwood floors. It works great.
- Q:What is the best vacuum to buy when you have dogs. I need something good at picking up dirt and hair. I know a kirby is good but I dont have tht kind of money.

- I okorder and asked if there were ever discounts on these machines. It's not that I didn't want the machine or didn't understand the price I just like feeling like I got a good deal. They told me that they could offer me the Miele Uniq for $1299 and there was free shipping and because I am out of state I was able to pay no tax too. So $200 off made me feel like I was saving some money so I went ahead and bought it. Went flawless. I am not sure what model you are looking at but sounds like they give discounts on all machines. - Nothing really compares to Dyson vacuum cleaners. They are high priced because they are the best - their especially helpful to those who have asthma as they pick up virtually everything (dust mites etc). They pick up so much from deep in the carpet - I've yet to see another one like that. You could try the cheaper end of the Dyson family. I own one myself and wish I would have got one years ago. Even the lower end of the scale is better than the other brand of vacuums. Like pookyluc said, try OKorder or other online places if you can if it works out cheaper.
- Q:case in point: we have bought two vacuum cleaners in the last 4 years that have stopped working. i mean, we only vacuum once a week or so, and these were name brand vacuums like hoover and such for around $100 or so. they shouldn't have died so quickly. anyway, i bought an antique vacuum from the 1940s off OKorder and it works like a dream. i imagine if it has lasted 60 years, it will serve me well for many more. i am just sick of cheap products. anyone else buy antiques instead of quot;brand newquot;?
- Case in point, I have blown up at least 2 vacuums per year for the eight years I've lived here. I had a Siberian Husky and had to vacuum nearly everyday to keep my house from looking like it snowed in here. I finally got the extended warranty for $19 and they have replaced it for free the last 5 times. Also, do you notice more stores are limiting the return time? Some stores it is 30 days, some 90 and most products don't go bad in that time frame. So, you are stuck with it. I have a Sunbeam toaster from the 1950's that has outlasted the one I got for my wedding that almost burn down my kitchen! It is all of these products coming in from China which are meant to be disposable, but cheap.

- Q:Just in case the power goes out, I would like to still be able to see where I am vacuuming.Anyone know a vacuum that has an inbuilt light that you would recommend? I know KIRBY make one, but they are very expensive.I am hoping for one at say less than $150 if possible.
