Q:I have a 2006 Z71 with a 3 body lift that I had put on about 2 months ago. Everything went well but now the service brake system message is displayed with the ABS and Emergency light lit up. I took it to the chevy dealership and they said it could be a short. Any other suggestions of what it might be and how I could fix it
don't mess with the ABS unit. its a computer that's run by your vehicles computer and wheel sensors. if you mess with the ABS computer system, you run the risk of burning that computer out, and a new ABS computer is somewhere around 1500 bucks to replace.
Q:I just changed my front brake line and can‘t get my front brake to pressure up. How do you get the pressure up in a brake line on a harley 1200 xlc?
Scoring on the piston skirt is caused by insufficient lubrication. That can be caused several things including having been too hot and excessive piston clearance. Were it me, I think I'd measure the inside diameter of the cylinder if for nothing else, peace of mind. When the front cylinder is coming up on compression, the connecting rod is going to try to **** the bottom rear of the piston against the cylinder wall. You might also look at the front top of the piston, especially the part above the top ring and see if it appears to have extra wear. Harley is known for using very tight clearances between the piston and cylinderwall, so I doubt the piston was too loose. It might not hurt to pull the rear jug and take a look at it. It would be very annoying to replace the front piston, put everything together and then find the knock was actually being caused by the rear cylinder. I don't know how large of an area is scored, but if it's not that large, the knock may be from the rear cylinder. I've pulled engines apart and was amazed at how well and quiet they ran considering what I found inside. Like the time I found large pieces of piston skirt in the oil pan and the remaining skirts fell apart on 6 of 8 pistons when removed from an industrial engine. I doubt the cylinder is badly worn, but it would still be advisable to measure it and if ok, hone the cylinder before installing a new piston. Be sure to lubricate the piston and cylinder before installing. I like to use STP for that purpose.
Q:what is the difference?
The ABS system is a safety feature and not a type of brake system. All cars these days have power brakes.
Q:What is the meaning of the brake failure?
Brake is the brakes
Q:from what I have learned from this forum, my buick regal has a leak in the braking system which causes my car to stop running after applying brakes. have already spent over $2,000 on other items and still just quits running and then wont start until it is jumped off.
Light a match let it burn then blow it out while the doors and windows are closed so none of the smoke gets out. If tht don't work lots a fabreeze
Q:I‘m hearing mixed opinions on this. Currently, if I see a red light or something coming up, I‘ll shift the car into neutral, then start applying my brakes when I‘m close enough.
Brake first, Once you start to slow down, down shift
Q:I have a pair of Men‘s Rollerblade Zetrablade Bio Dynamic skates. I got them used and they no longer have the ABT brake system on them anymore. I‘m wondering where I can get this braking system (not just the pads). I‘ve looked online, but can‘t find anything. Thanks.
On the right rollerblade there should be a brake if not i think is replaceable. If you want to stop (with the brake) just pull up the heel (with brake on it). If there isnt than yes you can make almost a turn to stop. P.S- I been rollerblading for 8 yrs- 3 yr playing roller hockey- 2nd yr change from skater to goalie.
Q:A hydraulic brake system is shown. Thearea of the piston in the master cylinder is6.39 cm2, and the area of the piston in thebrake cylinder is 1.75 cm2. The coefficient ofkinetic friction between the brake shoe andthe wheel drum is 0.484. How large is the frictional force between thebrake shoe and the wheel drum when a forceof 46 N is exerted on the pedal? If you can explain this as well it would be helpful. Thanks
The pressure in the hydraulic system is constant. So, when a force F is applied to the piston in the Master Cylinder (not the same as the pedal due to mechanical advantage and vacuum assistance in the braking system), then it produces a pressure P of F divided by the area of the piston: 46/6.39 N/cm2. When this pressure is applied to the cylinder piston, it produces a force f of P times the area of the piston: (46/6.39)*1.75 N. When this is applied to the brake drum, f is multiplied by the coefficient of friction (0.484) so the final force on drum is: (46/6.39)*1.75*0.484 N
Q:Does anyone know if ATE Super Blue and ATE Super Yellow brake fluid is O.K. to use? I keep reading Porsche brand is the only one to use, but I also know a couple of drivers who use it on the track in their Porsche.
I use them exclusively. When I change and flush my brake systems, I use the contrasting color ATE fluids to tell when I have completely flushed. I start with the Amber fluid that came from the factory fill and flush after the first year or two with the ATE Blue. When the flushed fluid comes out in the opposing color, you know that it new fluid. Also, ATE has been a supplier of brake parts for Porsche for many years. American Department of Transportation standards require that the brake fluid be Amber or Blond in color for Identification purposes so that it is not confused with other fluids. It is a real old standard and is way out of whack with what could be a good standard for color identification purposes.
Q:what are some precautions you should take while servicing a brake systemex. brake fluid contamination.
keep the fluid out of your eyes, it will cause blindness in a hurry. remember that some sections of the brake system retain fluid under pressure.
