- Q:Alright, we've lived in this apartment for a year and three months, and we're on our third vacuum cleaner. The first two were Eureka's, then we bought a cheap bissel this last time. I had been taking excellent care of my vacuums, right down to washing the dirt cups, filter and cleaning out the carpet brushes with every use. I couldn't figure out why we were going through them like we were, but everyone suggested that cat hair is clogging them and burning them up. The newest started acting up within two uses (and it's not a large apartment, and we have one cat who hardly sheds, and we clean on a regular basis. Anyways, I tore the stupid thing apart to find MOUNDS of cat hair clogged in it. There was at least enough to be the size of a softball in the hose. So, how the heck is this thing clogging so fast, and what can I do to prevent it? I can't be tearing the stupid thing apart after every use, I refuse to shave or get rid of the cat and I can't exactly just stop vacuuming. Help me please!
- Do you brush your cat every day? I know you said he/she hardly sheds, but if there's softball size hair in the vacuum after 2 uses, maybe you just don't see the hair because it's so fine. You may have to vacuum every 2 or 3 days, just so there's not so much hair at one time. I guess you're going to have to check the hose after every use too, just to make sure there's no build up. - They Dyson Animal is perfect, but the price is not. I have the Dirt Devil Pet. It does a fairly decent job, and it has to clean up after a few Rottweilers, so I would think it could do a decent job cleaning after your pug.

- The vacuum cleaners are hard enough to sell in a normal economy. In a lousy economy like what we have now, the job is vene more difficult. Folks don't buy a $1300 vacuum just because. They have to be fully convinced it is worth the money. It is very heavy, especially with the water in it, and you should not try to dismiss objections about carrying it up down stairs - that is really not recommended, and not to be advised because of the risk of injury. They either empty the unit of water, and refill on the second floor, or they buy a second system for the second floor - and you can double your sales! If you every find such a customer, give them a good discount on the second system, OK? Good Luck; but in case things are slow, I suggest you have another part time job ready.
- Q:I have a 1,200 square foot house and a dog that sheds a lot. I used the Swivel Sweeper 360 G2, and it sucks! I used it on rugs and my hardwood floors. I have hardwood floors throughout my house and some rugs in some of the rooms. I know attachments would help for the small areas like under the desks and TV stand. - Like the first Answerer said, you definitely want a vacuum with the 'brush off' option for your non-carpeted floors. Not only does it prevent scratching of the floors, but it also prevents 'throwing' that happens with vacuums that do not have this option--this is especially helpful for those who have cats as the litter gets thrown from the beater brush. Them Dysons are crap. I've vacuumed shampooed the carpet of my clients who had pets. The ones that had Dysons were the worst! I found out how terrible the Dysons were when I'd shampoo the carpet after vacuuming. There was SOO MUCH pet hair left in the carpet after vacuuming that it would constantly clog my shampooer. I kept having to take apart the shampooer clean out the pet hair that clogged the suction holes. I have a Bissell Lift-Off that I bought second-hand for only $45. Actually, I have 2 now as I use one for my clients the other for the home. Of all the vacuums I use ( I use a lot of different kinds b/c I am a house cleaner), I like this one the best overall.

- Q:We have a Dirt Devil vacuum currently that we've had forever. It's fantastic but I'm wanting to replace it finally. I'd like a steamer/shampooer but obviously don't need to do that weekly. I'd prefer not to have to purchase both a vacuum and a steamer. Is there an affordable alternative which can do both?Thank you!
