Q:Do cranes play major role in Japanese culture? How so? Do cranes live in Japan?
Red-crowned cranes (also known as Japanese cranes and Manchurian cranes) breed in Siberia and Mongolia during the spring and summer but migrate in flocks to Japan, Korea, Taiwan, China, and other East Asian countries for the winter season. They are the second rarest crane in the world, and it is known as a symbol of good fortune, longevity, and fidelity in these countries. In Japan, they are considered to be a national treasure. They frequently appear in art, literature, and folklore. I remember a tale about a lonely man in winter and finding a crane nearly dead in the snow. He nursed the crane in his home until it was well enough to fly away on its own. The next winter, the crane came back as a beautiful maiden wearing the finest red and gold silks. She promised to live with his man and weave silks for him to sell. The only catch was that he was to never look at her while she was working. They lived happily for a while, until one day he couldn't hold in his curiousity any longer. He took a peek behind the screen and saw a crane weaving silk with its feathers! Naturally, the crane noticed and flew away, never to return. In Japan, cranes are said to have the legendary lifespan of 1,000 years (hence, the folding of 1,000 paper cranes). Cranes are also known to mate for life, making them a popular motif at weddings and anniversaries.
Q:What should I do with a thousand paper cranes?
wow. thats amazing. im sure you spent a long time making them so i wouldnt do anything destructive to them. i think you should make a big necklace out of them and hang them in your room or on top of a door or in the garden... or.... etc.. especially if the paper cranes have different colors, it would look rather pretty and vibrant.
Q:Is the working load of a crane the maximum weight it is able to lift?
Usually there is a safety factor of 400% built into all engineered cranes. This is to account for unforeseen momentary spike loads, operator errors and component weaknesses ( (chipped tooth or poor forged parts or chains, etc) This is to take into account shock loads, for instance if you were picking up a bundle of steel bars and the load shifted and the bars dropped a foot or so the momentary load on the crane spikes. Working load is basically the load the crane is designed to run all day long at. If you run at the design load the crane is covered under the manufacturer's guarantee against defects and the maker is liable for problems or failures associated with the crane. But for example if the manufacturer can demonstrate you were picking up a 5 ton load on a regular basis with a crane rated at 3 tons, the manufacturer's liability is negated. Since you can counterweight any crane enough to theoretically lift anything, most of the cranes that have electric motors actually will stall if you lift much over the design weight. In other words in the above crane if you try to pick up 5 tons with a 3 ton crane, the motor will not have enough horsepower to pick up the weight and the motor will simply not lift it. The actual overload factor built into a crane is usually to contend with those shock loads and defective or weak components not seen.
Q:What is a better name than Frank Crane for a story hero?
Names are not important. If it's bothering you, chose another name (find a list online of current most popular boys name so you chose something modern, maybe). But if you start relying on a name to put across something of the charactor you are doing something very wrong.
Q:when are these crane flys?mosqito hawks guna leave im still scared?
The ones that look as if they have a stinger are the females. The stinger is just a device for laying eggs ( an ovipositor).
Q:Common themes in Stephen Crane's works?
Stephen Crane Works
Q:Aggressive Sand Cranes?
Sounds like the aggressive is the Dominate male of the herd. I know you like to feed them but that's what started the problem. He is being Dom so he can get more food and be the first to eat. Once they figure out you're not going to feed them they will go back to behaving normal. These are cool to look at, even though they can get loud sometimes. Have you ever seen tourist feed sea-gulls at the beach. Locals don't do it. Sea Gulls will get as aggresive as the Sand Cranes and actually dive bomb people. Imagine what a Sand Crane can do being what 10 times the size
Q:Do US Navy Boatswains Mates Operate Cranes?
In the latest update to the NEOCS Manual Vol II (NECs) I no longer see an NEC for BM for Crane Operator. Volume II Navy Enlisted Classifications (NECs) NAVPERS 18068F April 2011 NEC Chapter 4 RATING SERIES AND SPECIAL SERIES NECS www.public.navy.mil/bupers-npc/re...
Q:How should we select a appropriate crane for a particular job ?
What is the load weight? How high is the lift? Obstruction, possibly needing a jib? If you are placing a load onto a roof, how far from the edge of the roof is the load going to be placed? How far from the crane pivot is the load on the ground and how far are you going to to move the load away from the crane to place it in position? How close can you get the crane to the load and to the load placement site. The usual scenario is to call a crane outfit and they will ask you these questions over the phone or come to the site and discuss the lift with you. A crane is rated for maximum lift as close, usually 10 feet,to the cab pivot center. As the distance increases, the maximum load that can be lifted, decreases. Our 15 ton crane can pick 15 tons/ 30,000 pounds at 10 feet from pivot center. With the boom fully extended; the boom is 100 feet, at a 30 degree angle, it can pick up only 5,000 pounds. Inside of every crane cab should be a chart that shows the lift capacity at various boom angles and boom lengths. Also is included is a chart for the Jib, if the crane has one. Wingman
