- Q: I have a light beige and ivory rug with blue and green details. It doesn't match my decor, which is neon pink, bright green, and gold. How can I get rid or dye out the blue parts of the rug? What about bleach?
- You want to do this at a laundromat, biggest machine possible. in cold water, bleach the rug. It may take two tries---using the largest possible machine, try a cup of detergent and a cup of bleach, and see what happens. If you get the desired shade, or lighten it enough, then you can immediately dye it (To a darker shade, of course.) Otherwise, double or triple the bleach, no detergent, and run it again. You may put additional bleach in the compartment where the fabric softener goes, and it will bleach it again on the rinse cycle. After you dye it, as a courteousy to the next person, run it through a cycle with detergent, empty. Or you can do a load of dark, old clothes, like blue jeans. To dry it, lay it on a flat surface, turning it occasionally, and avoid direct sunlight, ideally it will be in the shade on a warm, breezy day. If indoors, dry it on an old sheet on a carpet, with a fan pointed at it, again, turning it every hour or two. Good-luck---Brian

- Soak a cleaning rag in water. Make sure that the rag is thoroughly saturated. Do not use hot water, but use room temperature tap water or cool water. Lay the rag on top of the stain. Press the soaking rag onto the stain. The paint will lift out of the carpet and onto the rag. You may need to rinse and repeat this several times to get all the paint out. Resist the urge to scrub until the paint is faded to completely gone. Let the carpet dry. This may take several hours. You will probably need to vacuum to restore the nap, which may be flattened because of the soaking and pressing.

- its very low unless the builders have a discount at the suppliers for all the new home owners to use $16 psy will only allow you to get the basic quality carpet, and certainly nothing like stainmaster i would either renegotiate, or, ask for a total spend in amount, and use that to purchase a couple of good qulaity carpets and buy the rest yourself, a $16 carpet isnt worth having, it will look shabby in no time

- Regular carpet adhesive that you trowel on will work. But It ll tear the wall all to Heck when you go to remove the carpet. Maybe some carpet tackless that you can nail to the top and let the carpet hang straight down? Other than that just some finish nails.. GL

- You should wait until it is thoroughly dry. If you have to move furniture back on, slip something (like wax paper or plastic wrap) under the legs first.

- Are you determined that they must be *braided*? Similar can be crocheted from cloth strips. With braided rugs, the tedium of final stitching can be a roadblock to completion. In either case, the rugs may be rectangular rather than round or oval. The short edges/ends will have a fringe. With braided, the lengths are sewn together with carpet thread, often looping invisibly *between* strands rather than forcing the needle *through* strands. With crocheted, only the fringed ends will need to be stabilized.
