- Q:My two kids have asthma and doctor says we have to vacuum everyday using a vacuum cleaner that has hepa filters. We are a busy couple and currently have an old dyson that we use once a week at the most (and I doubt it has hepa filtration). My wife's friend recommended getting a robot vacuum cleaner for the job. Has anyone else used robot vacs and has good tips/suggestions? Do they do a good job cleaning? Any advice is appreciated! thanx
- My okorder
- Q:Which Vacuum is better...bagless or canister. And I mean cleaning wise. And with Canister, do you have to buy bags? Or with either, do you need to buy anything other than the vacuum EVER?
- They are expensive but I would get a Dyson if I were you. I bought one a few months ago and it is AWESOME! It has a canister that holds the dust and junk the vacuum sucks up. You hold it over the garbage, hit a button and it all falls out. You never have to touch the crap inside ever. It is easy and super clean. I have had every type of vacuum out there including bagless. I hated it cause it made a freaking mess when you went to empty it. There were also a bunch of different filters...I think 3 or 4 that you had to clean and buy all the time. With the Dyson it has a lifetime guarantee (equal to 100 years) and you never have to buy another filter or bag again! They really are worth the $$$!
- Q:Not sure which brand I should bite the bullet on
- I okorder , I called up because a buddy of mine actually told me he went into their store and got a discount and got $150 off for calling up. Had it the next day in CT at $949 flat. Definitely would recommend Miele though. Germans always make the best
- Q:I need to purchase a new vacuum cleaner in the $125 - $175 price range. Does a bagless have as much sucking power? Do I have to replace filters on bagless vacs? Thanks
- It is a personal choice. I like my Oreck with bags, since it is very light weight and works wonderful. My local Oreck store has a $99 sale going on, so maybe check that out in your area. I also like the carbon bags since I have animals, it keeps the smell down to nothing. The bags are easy to change and there is no dust being released from the vacuum, with no filters to clean out. My sister loves her Dyson bag less, but I find it a pain to clean out, and very, very heavy. I just do not see the point when you dump the canister and the dust just flies out everywhere, and it breaks your back hauling the thing up and down the stairs.
- Q:Or would 2 vacuum cleaners produce the same volume of noise as just 1 vacuum cleaner? but just more consistently? ie. the same volume of noise, but just more of it. Assume the vacuum cleaners are of equal distance and they are the same model. Some analogy could be made when you touch one hotplate with one hand and another hotplate with the other hand. Touching the second hotplate doesn't mean that you are receiving heat that is twice as hot, you would just be receiving twice the amount of heat.Or is noise more like light, where two light bulbs do equal more light.
- no it wont be twice as loud. noise is rated by decibles and every time the noise is doubled, the decible reading goes up 1 decible
- Q:Why do vacuum cleaners have lights on the front, do they expect you to vacuum at night?
- It makes it easier to see things that you maybe are not supposed to suck up, for example pins or thread that can hurt your vacuum.
- Q:What brands of vacuum cleaners are the best and not too expensive?
- My favorite is my trusty Shop Vac! I bought the smaller one. We have only one, low-traffic room with rug, so I don't miss the beater bar. It sucks up anything, and you don't have to buy bags unless you are vacuuming fine dust. The whole thing, canister, filters, and hose can be washed. I use it for our vehicles and the whole house. And when there's a water spill somewhere, just empty the canister and suck up the water. Costs around $60.
- Q:At what point in history did vacuum cleaners become an appliance present in every household?
- Something like 1949. It was being used before that. It took some time to accepted ans affordable.I don't my mother had one until 1959 ? Long time ago.
- Q:The batteries dont last. It goes up to 15 mins, max. Is there anyway i can upgrade the batteries? By the way its Electrolux Ergorapido
- Killer design, but yes, unfortunately, they run out fast...and dry
- Q:I know there is the Bissell Flip it, Dirt Devil Vac n Mop and Hoover Floor Mate, but is there a site where I can compare all 3 and see which one is the best?
- I have the Hoover Floor Mate. DO NOT buy this! All it does is pee the water out, and smear the dirt around. Personally I am a fan of hands and knees with a mixture of light dawn dish soap and warm water. I don't think, if your floor is wood it is wise to actually get it wet. Regular hardwood floor cleaner I suppose would be the best.
