Q:Just wanted an idea. We are looking to redo all of our bathroom countertops from tile to granite. I cant decide if I like the above the counter sinks or to place the sink below the countertop. Below is much more expensive. About $200 per cut. Anyway, any suggestions? Thank you.

I love the look of the above counter sink. I think it is elegant looking. If you get a nice one, that is a beautiful look. It is a bathroom and would look fabulous with a sink in either the marble or a brushed pewter look.. Good luck.

Q:My bathroom sink has a really, REALLY slow drain. Im not sure of what the parts are called so bare with me. I was able to take the bottom pipe, at that makes the u, at the bottom of the sink drain out and there was nothing there. I looked up, through the sink drain and that was clear. I then took a snake and put it into the wall and snaked the pipe as far as I could. I did get "gunk" and I thought that I cleared whatever was blocking the pipe creating the slow drain, but apparently I didnt. Right now Im just waiting for the sink to drain again to take that U off so I can snake the wall again. Thats all I can think of doing. Is there anything else for me to do, or is just keep snaking it my only option?

A slow sink drain is usually a hair block in the stopper arm but you are past that so the snake will work but I suspect an air lock or a full main drain line and that means either the main sewer line is blocked or the septic tank is full. If the snake does not solve the problem then you need a professional drain cleaning company.

Q:I want to buy a new bathroom sink, but have no clue what to get. I have a white round, not square sink with a silver faucet. I want a standard white round sink. Do sinks come with all the screws and everything to install? Also, do sinks come with the faucet handles or do you have to buy those seperately? Do sinks already have the holes for where the faucet goes? Any info helpful.

Sink's usally come with all the mounting hardware. they come in 4 on center holes or 8 on center or single Hole for faucet. make sure you get the right faucet. and get a good brass popup plug assembly comes with faucet.

All so far are valid answers. I replaced mine with standards from a Big Box Home Imp. store. The issue is to measure the cut out on the counter top, assure that the sink has a lip to cover, perhaps 1/2 inch all around to cover the cut, caulk before setting the new sink,,,After assurance that the plumbing lines up beneath, use the brackets from beneath, that pull the sink tight to the counter top, If they are offered, hook up the down drain pipe to the P Trap, and the intake lines to the faucet, and turn it on,,,slowly at first to determine proper connections. Trailers per say,,,as in tow arounds, often have specifically sized fixturing. Mobile Homes which are not strictly Mobile, can accept regular house fixturing. Most bath sinks are between 19 and 22 inches, oval, round, or otherwise, and all that's best required is pulling the old sink and measuring the opening before you shop. Steven Wolf
