Q:In my bathroom, I have a ball-joint sink valve. Which means its a single rotating handle. Pushing it up turns it on. To the left, hot water. To the right, cold water. My dilemma is, if I push it all the way to the left, no water comes out. If I rest it in a certain position to the left, it sputters, and eventually cuts off altogether. In other words, its a pain in the butt to get hot water out. Im assuming it needs to be repaired, but could it also be that it is an energy saving faucet? As Im not sure.Anyways, if you are knowledgeable in the area of plumbing, I would greatly appreciate your diagnostic if you have one. Even if it isnt right at all, Id still be grateful for input.

Depends on how handy you are. Sound like there is sediment clogging the openings. If you want to tackle the job yourself, then go under the sink and turn off both valves in the lines to the faucet. Then remove the retainer ring around the handle. May have to remove handle with allen wrench first and then the retainer ring. Lift out the ball and check for any clogs internally in it. Remove carefully the rubber O rings in the cavity where the ball was, and then put a rag over the fixture and slowly turn on the valves under the sink to flush out the lines. When lines are running clear, then replace the rubber O rings and then the ball and retainer ring.

Is it backed up? Something could be inside the pipes rotting... You could either call your sup. Or you could use a wide variety of liquid plumbers... I typically pour a lot of bleach and snake my pipes in this case....

Q:I share the bathroom with my parents and theirs is really clean!!! But its all the way at the other side of the house so i use my brothers during the night. And there are tiny bugs sorta like magots in the sink it grosses me out so much i dont wash my hands. Do you think i should clean it and kill them or what??? They are probaly attracted to the dirt and gross stuff in the drain but it makes me sick!

I would just pour bleach down the drain to kill whatever is in there attracting bugs, then I would go ahead and clean the rest of the bathroom myself. Then, I would buy him some Lysol wipes and set them under the sink and if he don't take the hint and use them, I would just use one at night to wipe down at least the sink and toilet myself. I can't use a dirty bathroom.

Q:I need help on how to solve my problem: a 100% plugged bathroom sink. Its plugged with years of puke and frosted flakes recently. Nasty i know. Can i buy like a liquid drain all or am i gonna have to call a plumber? Thanks.

If you cannot handle mechanically disassembling the trap and cleaning it out, I would suggest going to Wal-Mart and for about $10 you can get a gallon of Main Line Cleaner. I can pretty much guarantee that will clean the clog but be careful and wear goggles and gloves and if your sink is something you care about you may want to test it and they inconspicuous spot first.
