Q: Ok, so here‘s the deal. I‘m installing a new muffler on my car.The pipe leading to the muffler is 2 1/4 in diameter, or at least a little bit smaller. So do I need a 2 1/4 muffler inlet to fit on it? Or 2 1/2?Same for the exhaust tip, does the exhaust need to be 2 1/4 on a 2 1/4 muffler, or bigger?Answers for weld on and clamp on are appreciated.
You have to take into consideration, the horsepower and volumetric efficiency of your motor, and back pressure requirements. The larger you go, the less velocity of exhaust and back pressure. You need to find out how many cubic cc's of air your intake can utilize, and then the same of your exaust, to see how many cc's it can flow out. That will give you your volumetric efficiency % That will tell you to go larger or smaller, it's minor, but it makes a difference for the life of your powerplant.
Q: I know it is kinda retarded to put exhaust on a V6 jeep but what you be the best type to put on it and it actuallyy sound good?
i have a 1995 jeep cherokee-lifted 5 inches-put a flow master on it and it will purr
Q: I want to put a new FULL (front to back) exhaust on my car but leaving the stock cats will just restrict the new pipes and getting bigger catalytic converters is just to expensive. im not worried about legalities.so what do the cats do??? do i need them???the exhaust will be true dual if it helps.
It's mandated to be there by Federal law. It helps to clean pollutants out of the exhaust system. In new cars it also helps set the computer to have the engine run at the most efficient level, not too rich nor too lean. In those states that require inspections, not having a working one in place is an automatic fail, but since you are not worried about legalities, none of this will affect you, up to the moment you get the fix it ticket and are not allowed to register your car without taking care of the problem
Q: I got a V6 with stock muffler/exhaust/etc and I installed KN for a deeper engine sound. I wanna run straight pipes. How much would it cost if i were to take it in for professional installation. And how much of a difference would it make if i were to run straight pipes rather than stock muffler/exhaust.
people will tell you otherwise but if you are gonna get an exhaust just get 3in all the way to the back it will sound better and you will pretty much be done with it. cost wise i took mine to a shop and they did everything. it was a cat-back system and 3in pipe straight and they charged me $400 i think
Q: Need to replace my entire exhaust system help?
not as expensive as youd think uple hundred to have the exhaust custom bent, pluss mufflers and cat. your best bet would be the aftermarket with the old fartpipe though if money is an issue. a catback will replace anything after the cat, and should be bolt in unless noted.anything before the cat is gonna be bolt in usually.aftermarket cats can be expensive.if you want, install the before and after then have a muffler shop, or all around shop install a universal or high flow cat only, you doing the rest of the work.
Q: On my 2005 Ram Hemi with single exhaust, I like the mellow quiet tone of the stock muffler. I figure the single exhaust system is restrictive, so I was thinking about dual exhaust. I don‘t wanna buy a high dollar system, and I wanna keep it quiter than aftermarket. Do you think a local muffler shop can free up some HP with their home-made dual system and some stock mufflers?
Yes as long as they leave the senors in place or U will be having check engine light on.
Q: I was thinking about getting MAC catback exhaust system with MAC o/r H-pipe. I was watching videos of the exhaust system on youtube and they all sound loud, deep, bassy, and gurgly which i'm looking for. I looked up on Ebay and the exhaust systems are cheap! For the system is like 300 and for the o/r MAC h-pipe its about 160.So would you say that the MAC catback sounds good or you dont like it? I think it sounds better than flowmasters.
X pipe because it sounds alot better. Also i think X pipe with borla sounds the best on a Mustang.
Q: Magotan fault lights reported exhaust system failure is what is wrong
There may be burning bad, or the quality of gasoline problems can be seen computer detection
Q: When I set my car to neutral, and gave it LOTS of gas a black liquid exits out of the exhaust pipe. I had use a product called Guarteened to pass smog. Is this normal? And what can i do to MAKE SURE my car passes smog?
I'm guessing your car is or was running rich at one time and you have soot build-up in your exhaust system. The condensation ( which is perfectly normal ) is mixing with this soot and that is why the water is brown or black as it drips out of the tail pipe.
Q: I need to know some of the top exhaust systems for a 04‘ honda 450r TRX.Thanks
If you can find one, i suggest a white brothers exhaust system, but they are hard to find now due to the company no longer manufacturing. I suggest eBay. Other than that talk to a honda dealer they can tell you what else would be the best benefit to your bike.
