Q: I have a 2010 Lancer gts and I‘m goin to be buying a greddy catback exhaust system for it alone with a test pipe to replace the cat and also headers. Has anyone ever used greddy and can you tell me what you think? I‘m lookin to get some power increase and a lower grumble sound not a ricy sound.
first off DO NOT put a test pipe on a N/A car, you will get reversion which will HURT power not help it, but more on that later. The Greddy systems are nice and deep as long as you get the higher end models, like either the Ti-C, or Evo2. The SP systems are really quiet and sound almost like stock. The header is a good choice as long as you don't skimp. Now back to reversion. I will try to explain it as simply as possible. Your cylinder moves up an down in the engine block creating exhaust gases to expel out of the exhaust, as this is going on you have a push/pull effect on the air it is making. The catalytic converter helps trap gases from being sucked back into the combustion chamber keeping negative pressure (reversion) from filling the combustion chamber decreasing efficiency at which the fuel is burned, now keep in mind that your engine is sometimes going 6,000-7,000 RPM per minute meaning several strokes per second. On a turbo car the turbo actually acts the same as a catalytic converter because the impeller cannot spin both back and forward at the same time. This is where a high flow catalytic converter comes into play. This would be your best choice.
Q: explain how you would assess the exhaust system in a car? what would you look for?
Electronic Traction Control. Keeps your cars tires from spinning in slippery conditions.
Q: I have an Extended Warranty from Nissan (100K miles bumper to bumper). It says that it covers everything unless the part/system is listed under the What is Excluded section.I have been told that I need a new catalytic converter. That part is not specifically excluded from extended warranty coverage, but the exhaust system is.So my question is, does the exclusion of the exhaust system mean that the converter is also excluded ?
The catalytic converter is part of the exhaust system so it would actually be specifically excluded. What kind of bumper to bumper warranty excludes exhaust? As you're figuring out, there are some costly parts down there. Anyway, here's the catch. Catalytic converters are required by law (in the USA) to be covered by the original vehicle manufacturer for 8 years or 80,000 miles. So, if you fall in that category it's covered by your regular Nissan warranty--head to the dealer. Kyle must have his part names confused, the cat most certainly is part of the exhaust system--everything from the headers to the muffler tip is the exhaust system.
Q: I have a 2000 Eclipse GT with the V6 3.0L automatic with the kick over.I wanted to put some new headers and a new exhaust system on my car. I was wondering what would be the best parts for me, and if there are any other bolt ons to add some horsepower. THANKS for the infoAlso if I can get your email to ask you bout someother stuff id like to do
let the car roll a little without any gas if it shakes then you probably have to get the tires balanced(which should have een done when the tires were put on)and if it doesnt then try changing the brake pads
Q: I got a V6 with stock muffler/exhaust/etc and I installed KN for a deeper engine sound. I wanna run straight pipes. How much would it cost if i were to take it in for professional installation. And how much of a difference would it make if i were to run straight pipes rather than stock muffler/exhaust.
Don't go with straight pipes, it will sound like a ricer and you'll actually lose power. Get a Pypes H pie cat-back system and either the Pypes high flow mufflers or Ford GT takeoffs from a 2005+ Mustang. Sounds way better. Complete kit is under 500 bucks, another 150 for professional installation.
Q: well my kia has a exhaust leak right were the exhaust pipe connects to the motor and im t5rying to figure out the name of the part
Could be the exhaust manifold.
Q: With what exhaust system will I get more hp? I have 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee Special Edition 4.7L V8.
Just about any of them, they are all using the original valved type turbo muffler design and patent,go for price !
Q: I have 2003 Ford Explorer Sport Trac, Im wanting to get a nice new exhaust that sounds as close to a V8 as possible. This truck has a 4.0L V6 in it. I prefer to have a dual exhaust. I was considering MagnaFlow, Gibson, or Heartthrob, but I‘m not sure which would be better. Help? Any and all knowledge.
The problem with questions like this is that 'sound like a V-8' is so subjective. I have two V-8 Fords now, so what I want them to sound like is probably totally different then what you consider a V-8 sound. I've run FlowMasters on my Mustang, that's what's on it now, and it sounds sweet to me. Suggestion - Since it's a 'personal' question, how about going to a car show keeping your ears open. Listen to the cars come go, ask what type of systems a couple of the nicer sounding ( to you ) have.
Q: 98 honda civic cx hatchbackAutomatic
For the intake, AEM, Injen, Fujita are all popular choices and aren't bad companies either. I'd personally check out the Simota aeroform if you can get your hands on one. It's a bit more innovative in my opinion, with a front air duct that funnels the air through the front of the car. This has the benefits of a cold air intake and not worry about hydrolock (when intake is submerged in water from being too low). Headers, DC Sports is probably the most well known. OBX is another. Exhaust system, Greddy, Apexi, HKS to name a few. All Japanese companies, so their parts might or might not be out of your price range. Of course they differ in sound, so dyno-tests aside, it might be a bit more personal preference.
Q: i own a 2002 chrystler concorde 2.7, now i know all of you are like oh thats a crappy car, but the thing is i love it its roomy but also has power, its a newly rebuilt engine, so it purrs like a kitten you cant even hear it, now dont get me wrong, i love the nice soothing sound. but what i want is a nice performance sound, now im not talkin about what you see on these honda civics, cherry bombs all that, i just want a mellow sound, kind of drowning noise, that still packs a punch when i accelerate, i want it to sound internal, not like its the tip thats makin the sound, so i was wondering what exhaust should i consider, for my car, i dont want to be a poser, and have no 4 exhaust, so anybody got any ideas?
I've got an Apexi exhaust system on my celica, and it sounds good. It doesn't sound like it's coming from the tip, it sounds almost like it's from the engine, it's hard to explain. It's sounds good because it's not obnoxious, but it still sounds good when I accelerate or rev the engine.
