- I assume you mean random lengths not widths. Most engineered wood come in one length but not all. Mohawk has a couple of lines that carry 1' 2' 3' and 4' boards and in engineered wood that is considered random lengths. To get varying widths you have to mixed boxes , from the same manufacturer to do different widths. Just to get the consistency of engineered wood the length have to be some what standard. - You can use the type of laminate that snaps together. This is installed over a pad that is rolled over the concrete. There would be no adhesive required. If you do go with the type of engineered wood that is glued together, the glue used is basically the same as yellow carpenters glue. The formula is slightly different, but for the most part it is very similar. The glue dries quickly, and once it's dry it should be sealed enough to not cause allergy issues. Hope this helps.

- By engineered do you mean, not real wood such as laminate? I have laminate wood flooring in my kitchen and real oak hard wood floors in the rest of my home and the kitchen floors are much easier to maintain, pricey, but well worth it!! Mine are also put down over laminate and are a floating floor wide planks w/ an aged effect.
