- There are re-glazing products out there, or professionals who'll do it for you. You find them usually advertised for re-doing tubs, but you can use it on tile too. It's not a true reglazing in that it is still paint, but it's durable enough as long as you stay away from abrasive cleaners. If you do it yourself, make sure you do the following: Clean/scrape all the tile surface and grout lines. Repair lose/damaged tiles. Touch up all the grout to perfection -- let cure. Sand tile; completely and thoroughly clean off dust. Cover/tape off all edges/areas not to be glazed, including any hardware, trim, etc that can't be removed. THEN apply primer, let cure, and then paint. Don't underestimate the power of using quality tools. If you get a professional, the results are almost always better, since they use a sprayer (protecting everything that isn't to be sprayed). It really depends on your area and how much tile you're talking about, but professionally reglazing a tub usually runs around $300, to give you an idea. Call around though.
- Q:Our house was built in 1925. My husband is removing our bathroom floor tiles that haven‘t been touched since then...we had only vinyl tiles on top of the old. He discovered these tiles are extremely difficult to take out they are very hard tiles under the vinyl we have now. - If you go to the DIY store I would think you would get paint especially for the job. When you have a smooth surface to get paint or varnish to stick to it you need to give it a key (ie use sand paper to give it something to grip) This wouldnt work here as it would damage your tiles. Another thought is you get these transfers which are just squares a different colour that you can put on tiles maybe that would be worth a go.

- test a spot with something like limeaway, but dont get it alll over the grout.
- Q:I‘m in the process of re-tiling my bathroom and when I took the old tiles off some of the old grout stayed on the walls or in some areas messed up the dry wall surface. I‘m looking for recommendations of how to either remove the old grout from the wall, or how to smooth the surface over the area in order to lay the new tiles. Suggestions?
- You need to purchase some grout remover, you can find this at any place that sells tile. Then you need to get a container of drywall patch and spread it on with a puddy knife, then re- sand.
- Q:The kitchen I want to order is a light cream/beige color. The tiles in my kitchen which would also be the backsplash are white. Does light cream and white work together? - Q:I am planning on laying down tile in my dining room and kitchen. I recently saw an offset pattern with 12x12 tiles and liked it. I‘ve now decided to go with the same offset pattern but with 20x20 ceramic tiles. Would I still have to find the center of the room and start tiling out from the center or can I just start at one wall and go from there since i‘ll be using the offset pattern? Thanks in advance.
- Regardless of the pattern layout, starting at the centre will leave an even margin of cuts around the edges. It also allows for the walls being not perfectly straight, or the the corners not being perfectly square. However,it is a good idea to lay a row of dry ties to make sure any cuts along the walls will not be too narrow.

- Q:HI ,THIS IS MY FIRST TILE PROJECT. I AM INSTALLING A BACKSPLASH ON SHEETROCK USING 4.5X4.5 PORCELAIN TILES. USING OMNIGRIP MASTIC APPLIED WITH A 1/4 X 3/16 V-NOTCH TROWEL. THE TILES HAVE A WAFFLE BACK. MY CONCERN IS DO I HAVE TO FILL IN THE WAFFLE DEPRESSIONS,WHICH SEEM TO BE 1/16 DEEP,BY BACK BUTTERING PRIOR TO APPLYING TILE TO COMBED MASTIC. ALSO, IS THE TROWEL SIZE CORRECT?P.S. WHY DO SOME TILES HAVE A WAFFLED BACK AND SOME A PRACTICALLY FLAT BACK? THANKS!
