- Q: I currently have a Bissell bagless. It just seems where I live (rural area) I am vacuuming 3-4 times a week and although I take the vacuum apart and clean regularly, it just doesn't seem to pick-up like I think it should. Anyone have an opinion on the Dyson vacuum cleaners? I am considering purchasing one and would like to know what you like or dislike about it. Thank you
- I have the purple dyson animal 07. I love it for the most part. You wouldn't believe how much that thing picked up the first time, and still picks up. That being said, I got a special deal on mine or I wouldn't have bought it. It was on sale at Kohls for $450, and then I got about $100 Kohls cash back when I purchased it, and a $100 Kohl's gift card by mail, making the Dyson about $250. It's a good vacuum, but not worth $500. There are comparable vacuums out there in the $200- $300 range (Oreck IS NOT one of them, don't get an Oreck). It's very easy to empty, but here's the thing, no matter how good the suction is, the roller still gets clogged and tangled with hair. I have long hair, and we have a golden retriever, so I'm cleaning that roller about every other week. And it makes a really bad sound when it gets too tangled. But I think that would be the case with any vacuum. It is easy to use, and pretty. I think the attachments are also a little pricey. I do like the cleaner, Zorba, that comes with it.
- Q: I remember reading an interesting quote a while back about the advent of vacuum cleaners (which I think represented modern technology). It basically stated that before vacuum cleaners work was done by hand, and when vacuums were invented the work was done two times faster but because of the dust given off by the vacuum vacuuming had to be done twice as frequently as the manual way of cleaning. Does anyone know the quote in its entirety?

- Q: I have two pembroke welsh corgis who shed like crazy and bare floors (no carpet at all). I am looking for a great, affordable vacuum that does not collect hair in the bristles on the bottom of the vacuum but actually sucks it up into the machine. HEPA included preferably since I suffer from allergies to a ridiculous amount of indoor allergens. Any suggestions of good or even bad vacuum cleaners to buy would be great! Thanks :)

- Q: It's not but two years old. Took it to a house with really old electrical outlets/wiring system, plugged it in and it ran. Turned it off, tried to turn it back on and it wouldn't turn on again. No electric box switches were tripped/turned off. Also tried it in outlets in all three rooms but it still didn't turn on. Fo vacuum cleaners have fuses the protect the motor? Any thoughts as to what's going on and/or what I can do (besides buy a new one)? Any advice appreciated.
- Check the machine for a clog somewhere in the system then look for a reset switch. Some vacuums have a thermal switch that cuts out when the motor gets too hot.
