- I have a '93 Cherokee too. So I can answer any question you have about it. Water pump failure is caused be bad seal or bearings. Since it locked up, your bearings were the problem. You must remove the clutch and elec fan to access the water pump bolts. I had to unbolt the A/C compressor and move it out of way. It took me about 4 hours to do the waterpump and thermostat. Not for the faint of heart. But if you are willing to save a few bucks and have access to a few tools, it's all pretty easy.

- Realistcally you have a 10 year old car, so your water pump has used up its life sorry. Stop leak products are usually a fine powdered aluminum/epoxy mix and NO they won't fix a water pump seal. Old stop leak products were actually better but used asbestos as a leak fix, so the government banned its use. My advice, is to shop around a bit for another price, as it does sound pretty steep. Sorry about your problem. Please remember anti freeze can go quickly, so don't risk an engine overheat at a bad time, carry 2 gallons of spare coolant

- I assume you are saying that the pressure drops to 20 when no water is being drawn by any faucets, since that will naturally happen if water is drawn. Four things I would check - first look for leaky toilet float valves - the tank level will drop, and the valve will open periodically to refill the tank if the seal is bad on the float valve. Secondly, make sure you have a check valve installed on the supply line into the pressure tank to prevent water from flowing back down into the well. Third, you may need more air in the tank - I would put enough air in so that the off/on cycle was 60 seconds when one faucet was fully open drawing water. This would not be the cause of leakage, but it could increase the frequency of the 50 to 20 psi cycle. Fourth, I'd adjust the low pressure turn-on point up to over 30 vs. the 20 it is set for now - 20 is probably annoyingly low. Go for a gap of 20 psi from low to high - eg. 30 - 50 psi.
