- Clean off as much of the poop as you can. Then just wash the rug right in your washing machine... ld water, regular laundry detergent. Hang to air dry. Machine drying can ruin the backing of the rug. Good luck. -

- In my son's pediatrician's office there was wall to wall carpet. It was often stained. Finally they removed the rug and used the carpet tiles. I commented to the receptionist on how nice the waiting room looked and she said these carpet tiles are a godsend because when one get stained, they simply lift it up and replace that one square. So, for an office/waiting room with lots of kids coming and going, it really does work. But, these were commercial grade.
- Q:how do you remove a moldy smell from carpet?
- Try cleaning it with a solution of vinegar and water. I've used it in my carpet cleaning machine and it takes pet urine odor out, so it might work on mold. I also read somewhere that alcohol is good for things like that and it evaporates rather quickly, so it might be an option if you don't have access to a carpet cleaner.

- Fill a quart jar with a cup of ammonia, 1/2 cup baking soda, 1/4 cup vinegar and the rest can either use more ammonia or fill with water. I use more ammonia on tough stains and maybe because of the red color more would be better. Dampen some cleaning rags with the mixture and rub into or spray into the areas to be cleaned. When you've got it all then rinse with plain water or a little vinegar. You can also use a soft bristle brush to work it out and then rinse. maybe some of it is still there and it might have to be done twice to completely remove it all. Good Luck. Take an old towel to dry it somewhat and just put the towel on the floor and walk on it zig zaggy.
- Q:I recently lost a large wall rug in my house due to a fire. The only information I have for it is the following: My grandmother purchased it from a traveling salesman in Canada sometime between 1967-1971. The dimensions of the rug are approx. 6ft long by 3-4 ft tall. It has a picture of polar bears on icebergs. The edging was red yarn-like fringes.I think that this rug is worth something but I can't find anything like it. I need to put a value on it for insurance purposes so I want to find out its true value and need documentation to prove that that rug, or one close to it, is worth a certain amount of money. My other grandmother had a similarly sized rug, possibly sold by the same guy, but it had a bullfighter and bull on it. Any help on this matter is greatly appreciated.
- I'm not incredibly familiar with rugs, but I can try to give some help. After searching around a little bit, it seems that most of the rugs fitting this description are between $200-400, but rugs also run much higher in price. If it is a hand-made rug of that size made by a fine rug-maker, you could be talking $1000 dollars or more. I can't say too much more, since I'm in no way qualified to appraise a rug, since I don't know enough about them, but I included some links in the sources that might help you price your rug.
