Q:Can i put a stable rug under a turnout rug?
It's best to have a nylon material against your horse. Most blankets are lined in nylon sheeting and they advertize it as polishing the coat. Cotton or wool may be a bit more comfy, but it pulls and catches the fur making the big movements in turnout likely to rip it. That's why they are used inside the stable.
Q:The carpet guy came to our house and measured our room out the other day, and said to put the baseboards in after. I read on a lot of sites to do the base boards first. Is the carpet company asking us to do it this way so its easier for them? Should we put baseboards in first even though they say not to?
No way. Baseboards, or skirting boards in the UK, are put down first. I'd be a bit worried about any carpet fitters who were either so lazy or so incompetant that they would try to persuade you to put the baseboards in last just to save them the normal task of cutting the carpet accurately to the baseboard. Unless you are having some kind of modern plastic baseboard that just sticks or clips on, it is a nonsense to put wood baseboards in second. Put the baseboards in first, paint them fully, let the paint harden a few days, and make the carpet fitters exercise due diligence when fitting the carpets - as any credible fitter will. (and there is no reason for them to mark the walls either when they fit the carpet, except negiligence and accidents.) (maybe it's done differently in the US, but I'd like to see the carpet pulled out in the future having been stapled and skirting board put over the top - fitting wooden skirting boards is a fully skilled job for a carpenter or competent builder, there are angles and levels involved, then there is filler and various coats of paint, you just don't do this after fitting new carpet and you don't trap new carpet under skirting board - you might leave the final coat of gloss until after the carpet has been laid. )
Q:I need carpet and pad installed in my home. I will remove old carpet. What is the estimated installation cost. Appx 1100 sf. thanks
Carpet prices vary widely as does quality. But you can get a mid grade carpet and pad to cover any warranties for around 3$ a s/f installed. Of course you can get a better carpet ( and cheaper ) but you generally get what you pay for.. Don t down grade pad since this is the back bone of any carpet..If any thing this is one place to up grade to what you can afford. GL
Q:I want to get a rug to put under my dinning room table but I'm not sure what kind would be best. I have three small kids.
Grandinroad and Frontgate catalogs offer indoor/outdoor rugs that are absolutely beautiful and can be cleaned by simply taking them outside and hosing them down. They are inexpensive and soft to the touch and come in patterns from traditional oriental looks to contemporary. I started by buying one for my outdoor deck but since have added them to my foyers and study. I get qreat compliments on them. No one knows unless I tell them they are so indestructible and easy to clean. You can check with both of these companies on line as well.
Q:The difference between silk and wool carpets
Actually 2 Concept The making types of carpet refers to the cashmere, usually its height is more than 1 cm (5-10 mm). Due to the cashmere, the density is low. The appearance of cashmere feels thick, soft to step on it, like stepping on the grass. The disadvantage is that there isn't pattern, simple and cheap. The silk wool refers to raw materials, silk plus wool quality, production species than hair. Using hair as silk hair materials is rare. Usually, wool is chemical?fiber, belonging to low-end goods. The thickness of manual or mechanism is thin, complex and beautiful patterns. Some simple distinction.
Q:How to deal with bedroom carpet near the door
When indoor decoration is completed, make a mark, which considers from a beautiful and practical point of view, by the way. Fifth, the device is qualified acceptance, it only makes home full carpet: even if you don't use carpet, you still need to do. Fourth, if the floor heating paves along corner, you should pay attention to: According to the personal economic situation, the waterproof should do well: The door bottom should reserve the height of the thickness of carpet plus 1cm from the ground (or the door will not open), seventh water pipes, now at home, try to buy high-quality carpet: The door of carpet and hard material junction do not to use loose sand, wood finishing have done mirror processing: Cement floor has done self-leveling or mirror processing, there is no certain height of the people; there is no furniture and sundries debris piled up indoor(convenient for construction) second: The bottom of skirting line should reserve height that the thickness-1cm from the ground
Q:How to clean a large carpet?
GreaseWhen the carpet is stained with a liquid, it should be dried immediately. Then wipe it off with a clean towel or paper towel. To remove grease, you can use lint in a non flammable dry cleaner. When you wipe it, wipe it from outside to inside. Don't shave so as not to scrape the fibers. Pat the stain until it's clean. Before using the detergent, test it in the inconspicuous part of the carpet and let it dry before it can be used again. If the oil spill is not too difficult to remove, you can smear on the stain with carbonated water, and then blow dryer, and finally use vacuum cleaners to clean the carpet. Can also be sprinkled with corn flour or talcum powder, placed for six hours, and then vacuum cleaner.
Q:Can anyone tell me if it is tacky to use a large carpet remnant as an area rug rather than buying a regular rug? I'm on a pretty tight budget, and I need a LARGE (10x10 ish) rug for our living room. Regular rugs that large are several hundred dollars. What do you think? Any other suggestions?
No. There is nothing tacky about this at all. I have bound and sold hundreds of room sized remnants over the years and 10 x 10 is the most common size. Be careful though. Many remnants of higher quality could cost more than a printed area rug. Binding costs me $1.10 per lineal foot and I sell it for $2.00 per lineal foot. A 10 x 10 bound rug or forty lineal feet will cost $80.00 for the binding, the cost of the remnant (estimate $70) plus sales tax. The retail store you shop at should have a binder they work with. They will send it out and should have it back for you to pick up within a week or so. If not, a few quick calls to some other carpet stores in the area should turn up someone willing to give you the number of a binder or two. If you can lug your rug to the binder yourself, you will save the money a retailer like me will charge for acting as the middleman. On July first, the binder I use is going to start adding fees for pick-up and drop-off service. Ten dollars each trip. I understand, he has to put gas in his van to keep working just like the rest of us and gas keeps going up. I strongly recommend you have your new rug bound because it will help prevent unraveling fibers and give it a professionally finished look. As part of the deal, a good binder will square it up and trim away any unevenness as well.
Q:I'm looking for an 8x10 area rug and so far have found myself in no-man's land — everything affordable is ugly or boring, and everything I like costs $2,000 or significantly more. Can you recommend a company or designer with attractive rugs of that size for under, say, $1,500?
Try okorder ... Tip: though I love the feel of natural wool rugs, I've been quite happy with the polypropolene synthetic rugs I've bought over the years. They feel soft, look authentic, don't aborb dyes from spills and clean up easily with soap and water. Best of all they are less than half the price of wool and you don;t have to worry about moth or insect damage.
Q:Difference between synthetic fiber and blended carpet
Artificial fiber refers to some acrylic fibernylon blended, wool adds a certain proportion of nylon or acrylic fiber blanket original enhanced corrosion resistance chemical fiber material
