- The new dyson dc24 with the ball is super duper light weight and easy to push and turn. I don't know anything about a shark. The dyson is nice because the hose is so easy to pop out, and it has a handle so one could easily clean crevices and corners. The switches are on the main part of the vacuum, right below the handle and above the canister. It would work very well in a small room because it is a small vacuum.

- I have a Dyson and I love it! I have never had a problem with it. I have the DC14 and I've had it for about 10 years now.If it ever breaks down or gets worn out I'm gonna get another Dyson for sure. You can't go wrong with either one you choose but I'd ask a sales person what the difference between the two is.Have fun, nothing beats a Dyson.

- You need to be more careful about what you are trying to vacuum. Vacuum cleaners are not meant to vacuum everything. Get a shop vacuum if you don't want to be careful. Shop vacuums can vacuum water!
