Q: There two different places in the house that have had candle wax spilled on the carpets - Berber carpet and Mini Shag carpet: The best way I have found is to do the following: Remove the chunks of wax and as much as you can with your fingers. You may use ice as the others have suggested for this step. Heat your iron on a NON steam setting but pretty hot. Lay a paper bag over the wax spots and iron them. You may have to do this several times with clean paper but the iron melts the wax and the paper absorbs some of it.

That's the laziest thing I've ever heard. Carpet adhesive can't be removed from carpeting, you have to tear it all out and replace it. Keep going and see if you hit hardwood floors, much better looking.

Q: the corners of my rug keep bending and it alllways gets messed up and wrinkledin this middle. why does it do thatt=[: Jenny is right about using a thin matt under the rug after you get the corners flat and the 1 st poster said to iron it.. If you try and iron any thing with nylon fibers you ll melt them and ruin the rug. So to answer you question, 1 st turn the rug over and place on a warm spot such as a heat register. You may need to do 1 corner at a time.Heat will relax the backing and help flatten it. Small weight on the corner ( such as a book or some magazines) help help too. You may want to even back roll it and warm it. This will flatten the corners out while its getting warm. Then use the matts recommended for you rug. Q: My carpet in my living room has become stiff. I regularly shampoo it and it is rinsed thoroughly. Any suggestions as to how to make it soft again?: I agree with the too much soap in the past theory. The residual soap then is aerosolized when next you shampoo the rug and then you breathe a lot of airborne mold and junk. Use the bare minimum of chemicals and soap when you shampoo a rug. Vacumn a lot. I am not sure how to make it soft again but I wanted to let you know the health risks associated with shampooing a rug. I have never tried it but maybe you could water down some fabric softener and spray it lightly on...let dry...try it on a small patch of carpet. I would use fabric softener with no added perfume. Q: I have a 5x7' area rug on my carpeted floor that moves an inch every time I walk across it. I want it to stay still, but I must be cautious cuz the whole point of the rug is to protect the carpet which I can't afford to replace. I've tried putting heaven stuff on top of the rug (ie. hamper, edge of dresser), but if I do, it still moves and bunches up on one side.: Use some little nails. Hammer them in through both carpets and into the sub floor. The tiny nail will not damage carpet. You'll never know they are there.
