Q: I'd like to convert some old cars and have them run like gangbusters.: You really need a new engine altogether, one designed to reliably run while providing the high compression ratios like 22:1 necessary to support combustion of diesel or other oils. Gasoline engines are only good for 10:1 compression these days. If the car is already a regular diesel car, I believe all you need is some additional fuel filtering to run on so called bio diesel.

Q: Any help regarding my question would be greatly appreciated.I have a 1991 Prevost Marathon Mirage LE Luxury Motorcoach and I am wanting to remove the Engine (Detroit 8v92) is this a job to hard for a reasonably experienced Diesel mechanic to conquer? I have all the space in the world in my game room to do this. Just wanting to know if the engine is on a slide track and it slides out (I have seen other coaches do this) or do i have to totally unmount the engine to get it out to where I can work on it? Firstly Remove The Battery Store It Safe Location.Disconnect The ,Diesel lines,Wirings,Cables,- Sesors, Modules, Then Disconnect,Gear BellHousing,Torque Coverter If There,Engine Mountigs, All Water Lines,A/c Connections,Front Grill,If You Need The Bonnet Also, Put The Rope Put Cross Bar- Tie Properly Care The Mudguards,Pull The Engine With Sufficiant Manpower Or Crane Nor Lifter. Check Once More before Takeout The Engine Assy-Wheel Blocks,Support To The Gear Box,Door Lock, Safe The Key,Nobody Not Allowed Inside The Car, Before Pullout Check Again And Make Sure Nomore- COnnections Arrange The Table Keep Everythings Ready Pullout Keep On The Table Check Externals. Make More Dismantling The Engie Take To Machine Shop They Knows What Nee for Your Engine. If Over machine Work Bring To Spot Selct New Parts What You Need Do Accordingly.

Q: I have two steel jerry cans that i used to carry gasoline in, now I want to store diesel fuel for an emergency generator in them. after I empty them will residual gasoline contaminate the diesel beyond usefulness?: If you clean out the can, be wary of what you use. If you use water, let it dry before filling it. Since diesel engines apply pressure to diesel fuel to ignite it, regular gas can be ignited the same way ONLY to an extent (the extent of which I do not know). Also, consider a diesel fuel stabilizer for long term storage so it won't break down so fast.

Q: Hi. I'm thinking about getting a Kubota Diesel Generator. I have read in many places that the Kubota Diesel engine is the gold standard of Diesel engines. So I'm not worried about that. What i need to know is this, is the generator as a whole dependable? Will over loading it for a few short seconds when the AC compressor kicks in burn it out or shorten its life?Any other insight would be appreciated.Thanks for your answers: Kubota diesel plants are being used more and more in industry, replacing some of the old standbys like Kohler, Perkins and even Caterpillar in lighter applications. I don't think you will regret buying a Kubota.

Q: I just got sworn in a few weeks ago to the navy, as an engineman. I was wanting to be on a carrier but didn't know if there was any jobs for the EN rate?: Most likely work related to the diesel generator or as an auxiliaryman. All propulsion work on a carrier is done by the NUCS. edit Enginemen are often assigned as small craft engineers, operating the engines on various boats carried by the ship.

Q: here's the thing.Imagine that I have a generator that uses diesel as the fuel. then consider following two cases.Case 1 - using one 1kW bulb for one hourCase 2 - using ten 100W bulbs for one hourI know both cases consume a same amount of power that is 1kWH.but I THINK the demand (which is measured in kVA or just kW) is higher in the second case. (is it??)so my question is that, does the generator burn a same amount of fuel at both the cases regardless of higher demand in second case?? and I'd much obliged if you can say how??: Assuming the wattage rating of all bulbs is accurate, power is exactly the same. To save fuel you should buy powerful LED lamps which use only a fraction of the power of a filament lamp. A 12 watt LED will produce as much light as a 100 watt filament bulb, so for 120 watts of energy you get the same light as from 1,000 watts of filament bulbs.

Q: I live in an area where storms are quite common, in fact the storm season approaches us. We have thunderstorms during which our lights start flickering. Q: i know that steam powers the turbine. And depending on the type of plant, i know how the steam is made. But once the turbine is spinning and generating electricity, i get lost. I know it all has something to do with electrons and metal coils and magnetic fields, but can you help me understand it all?: Electrical power plants powered by geothermal energy are common in areas of high crustal heat flow, such as in Iceland, New Zealand, and the western US, including Beowawe, Nevada, and The Geysers, California. The basic principle is to drill a hole deep enough to tap into a water reservoir which is hotter than 100°C, ie, higher than the boiling point. The water is hotter than the boiling point due to the confining pressure, and the water is piped into a turbine where it is allowed to flash (boil) to drive the turbne. The steam is collected, condensed, and re-injected into the reservoir to keep the cycle going. The turbine spins a generator, which converts mechanical energy from the spinning turbine into electrical energy through electromagnetic conduction as the desired output. It doesn't matter that the generator is connected to a geothermal steam turbine, a water wheel, a jet engine, a diesel engine, or a hamster wheel. A generator does not actually ‘create’ electrical energy. Instead, it uses the mechanical energy from the spinning turbine to force the movement of electric charges present in the wire of its windings through an external electric circuit. This flow of electric charges constitutes the output electric current supplied by the generator. This mechanism can be compared to a water pump, which causes the flow of water but does not actually ‘create’ the water flowing through it. A generator works on the principle of electromagnetic induction discovered by Michael Faraday in 1831-32. He discovered that the flow of electric charges could be induced by moving an electrical conductor, such as a wire that contains electric charges, in a magnetic field. This movement creates a voltage difference between the two ends of the wire or electrical conductor, which in turn causes the electrons to flow, thus generating the desired electric current.
