Q:I'm installing my car audio system in the morning. I have a 650w 4 channel amp for my four interior speakers and a class D monoblock amp for my sub.I have an 8awg wiring kit. If I split that to use it on both amps, it would end up at 16awg going to the amps. Is this thick enough for my setup?: 1. We can't answer without knowing more about your amplifiers. 650w 4 channel doesn't tell us anything useful, because the power rating may be a peak number that's only good for marketing, and you didn't tell us anything about the monoblock amplifier at all. Give us brand and model numbers and we might be able to help. 2. If I split that to use it on both amps, it would end up at 16awg going to the amps ....no. That's now how it works. (I'm not sure how you envision splitting the wire to make two wires that are half the size; are you cutting it down the middle with a razor?) You can use a distribution block to connect both amplifiers to the same main power wire, but you don't have to go to a smaller wire out of the d-block: you can run 8-gauge wire from the battery to the distribution block, then more 8-gauge from the d-block to each amp. 3. Even if you did cut the 8-gauge wire in half, a wire half the size of 8-gauge isn't 16-gauge. It's 11-gauge. If you put six 16-gauge wires together, you'd get a wire that's a little smaller than 8-gauge. Please edit your question with the brand and model numbers of both amplifier, along with the estimated length of the wire run (ie, how many feet of wire do you need to go between the amps and the battery?) Then we can tell you what gauge wire you need. Edit: thanks for the update. Based on the information about your amplifiers, I don't think you should run both of them from the single 8-gauge wire. I'd switch to a 4-gauge dual amp kit, or you can buy a second 8-gauge kit and run each amp with its own power wire to the battery rather than sharing a single wire.

Q:When I put the laptop into hibernation, the power pack still makes a considerable amount of noise. Since the memory was saved to the hard drive, is it okay to disconnect the power cable? Please note that the battery on the computer is pretty much dead and lasts for about 2 mins tops on normal mode: If it's true hybernation (and not hybrid sleep [?] or suspend) then everything is on the hard drive and the machine is completely powered down. You can safely remove the power cable - and even the laptop battery (if you wanted to, just to prove it works) - and a hour/day/week later pop those back in and when you power back up you should be good to go. EDIT: If it's true hibernation you can leave it like that for years. (Just do a simple test without power cord or battery as mentioned here and see if it works before trusting it.)

Q:When doing competition, is there a rule where your battery in the back can't be bigger than the one in the front? Are Monster Cables as good as they perceive to be???? Can a Power cable actually provide more efficiency if constructed right, once again, their 400 series?Subwoofers being 1000 RMS but only getting 500, will running them at their RMS make a significant difference?: Power cables are very very important when running a comp set up. You want as much current running through as you can possible get. Same goes for your ground, you want it to be just as good. Monster Cables are a very good brand of cable. RMS is basically the wattage a speaker can take continuously. If you run twice as many watts through your amp it will be significantly louder and boost your SPL.

Q:I have nine month old twins and they are starting to crawl and touch everything and I dont want them to get hurt. How can I hide all these loose cables. (modem, phone lines, power surges, chargers, camera cables, etc): I just use cheap plastic fishing tackle boxes or tool boxes. Cut or drill holes in the sides or ends for your cables, roll the cables up and twist tie them inside the box, allowing just enough on the outside of the box to reach their connecting points. Works great and it's easy to find black or gray boxes to match your computer so it doesn't look bad either.

Q:i have a cable modem that i lost the power cord to. i found another that fits but the output listed on the adapter is 12.5vdc. the modem lists +12vdc. can I use them together? i plugged it in and it lit up for a while but then went out but I don't really know how the modem is supposed to work if there's no internet connected to it.: You need the correct voltage and the correct current (amps) from your adapter. Look at the old adapter - it will say what the current output is (e.g., 2 AMPS).

Q:I got a PNY geforce 9800 gt 1gb graphics card from bestbuy and once I got it I noticed it didnt come with a power supply cable which most of the 9800s require. Anyone know why it didnt come with the power supply cable.: Because its on your power supply already unless you didn,t bother to check before you purchased the card!

Q:Recently I bought a EVGA Geforce 8800 GTS. When it came in, the card fits in my case but has 2 cables to plug in. I only have 1 cable to plug them in connected to my power supply. Should i only plug in 1, or is it nessesary? Is there an extra one I just dont know about? Please answer!: Might just be a double adapter cable. Just plug in 1 and see what happens. should work ok.
