- Q:on this link.. uld someone please tell me what color glass tile is on the first and the second photos of the bathrooms?the top bathroom looks more like a pink base and the second bathroom has the dark gray tiles and the purple walls. also, what kind of walls are these? it looks different than just regular paint. i need a link to the tiles that both of these bathrooms have. i think the first one is more of a pink base and the second is more of a silver base.

Lowes has some pillow tiles that give off that type of light for $195 a sheet.. The walls might be some sort of painting effect.. Like dry brushing .. Very pretty intersting but, could be REALLY expensive to try and pull off... If you like the look try a simple solutions pick a few things to mimic/faux spend some money on the WOW factor... - I wouldn't do it. You would either have to paint the grout, or put masking tape on the grout. Plus, as you point out, most paint won't stick to tile very well. There are some 2-part epoxy paints made for resurfacing sinks and tubs (white, almost always), but it's a fussy paint to work with, you need to prep the tile (sand it so it's not glossy), then mask the grout (probably). Edit: On 2nd thought, assuming the grout is white, you could also sand the tiles (for the paint to stick), and just paint using an oil-based primer. It will stick to the tile better than most paint. It might be a decent stop-gap until you have time to re-tile.

- Q:I laid a new porcelain tile floor in my bathroom. Old linoleum tile floor was in good shape so I just laid right over the top of it. All turned out well except around the toilet. - The floor under the toilet wasn't level so when the weight of the toilet went on top of the tiles it caused the tiles to crack. Make sure the tiles are back buttered as well as thinset on the floor and that they are level with each other. I would cut out any vinyl from around the toilet and then apply the tiles. Also wail for the thinset to dry for a couple days before installing the toilet so the tiles don't move.

- Its wise to under take any DIY that you can do yourself,because you can save and also it gives you great satisfaction that you done it.Regarding the laying of the tiles its quite easy,before you start have a plan to how you going to lay them,especially the cutting ones near the edges.You can also move it over if the cut is to small. I think you have to heat them before you lay them as to make them more flexable,take care not too over heat them.Start with the full tiles first and leave the cutting for last....good luck
- Q:Hi, I am thinking about placing vinyl wood planks over the existing ceramic tile in my house and I wanted to know if it‘s possible. The tile isn‘t completely level due to the grout and obviously not all the tiles are exactly the same height down to the millimeter. I wanted to know 1. Is it possible to install vinyl wood plank over ceramic tile, 2. If so how level the tile floor has to be, 3. How would I go about leveling the floor, with an underlayment or with some sort of mortar, 4. If I use an underlayment do I still need to use the mortar to level the tile?Thank you.
- While its always best to remove the tile and start with a fresh base for a new sub floor for the vinyl tile. This can be done .. You need to go over the tile with whats called an embossing leveler.. This will allow the vinyl to not show the grout lines. The high spots can be knocked down or floated so its barely noticeable. . By the time you do all this and the chance that you don t get any uneven tile floated out, your better off taking every thing out and do it proper. Any questions you can e mail me through my avatar.
