Aluminium foil (or aluminum foil) is aluminium prepared in thin metal leaves with a thickness less than 0.2 millimetres (8 mils); thinner gauges down to 6 micrometres (0.24 mils) are also commonly used.In the United States, foils are commonly gauged in thousandths of an inch or mils. Standard household foil is typically 0.016 mm (0.63 mils) thick, and heavy duty household foil is typically 0.024 mm (0.94 mils). Thefoil is pliable, and can be readily bent or wrapped around objects. Thin foils are fragile and are sometimeslaminated to other materials such as plastics or paper to make them more useful. Aluminium foil supplantedtin foil in the mid 20th century.

In North America, aluminium foil is known as aluminum foil. It was popularized by Reynolds Metals, the leading manufacturer in North America. In the United Kingdom and United States it is, informally, widely called tin foil, for historical reasons (similar to how aluminum cans are often still called "tin cans").Metallised films are sometimes mistaken for aluminium foil, but are actually polymer films coated with a thin layer of aluminium. In Australia, aluminium foil is widely called alfoil.

Aluminium (or aluminum; see spelling differences) is a chemical element in the boron group with symbol Al and atomic number 13. It is a silvery white, soft, nonmagnetic, ductile metal. Aluminium is the third most abundant element (after oxygen and silicon), and the most abundant metal in the Earth's crust. It makes up about 8% by weight of the Earth's solid surface.

Aluminium metal is so chemically reactive that native specimens are rare and limited to extreme reducing environments. Instead, it is found combined in over 270 different minerals. The chief ore of aluminium is bauxite.

Q:If a mirror has a diameter of 10.240 cm and you want to have a coating that is 0.0250 mm thick of Aluminum on it, how many grams of aluminum will you need? How many atoms of aluminum are in the coating? The density of aluminum is 2.702 g/cm^3You may consider the deposited aluminum to be a cylinder from which the volume can be determined using the equation for the volume of a cylinderThanks!
0.0250 mm thick equals 0.00250 cm thick volume (surface area) (thickness) volume (pi r^2) (thickness) volume (3.14) (5.12cm)^2 (0.00250 cm) volume 0.20578 cm^3 find mass using density: 0.20578 cm^3 2.702 g/cm^3 0.5560 grams of Al your first answer, rounded to 3 sig figs is 0.556 grams of Al find moles, using molar mass 0.556 grams of Al 26.98 g/mol 0.020609 moles of Al using Avagadro's number, find atoms: 0.020609 moles of Al 6.022 e23 atoms / mole 1.241 e22 atoms your next answer , rounded to 3 sig figs is 1.24 X 10^22 atoms of Al p.s the answer is Magnesium to your question: A 0.98338 gram sample of a metal (II) carbonate containing an unknown metal M, was heated to give the metal (II) oxide 0.5133 grams of CO2What is the metal? use molar mass to find moles: 0.5133 grams of CO2 44.01 g/mol 0.01166 moles of CO2 by the equation: 1 MCO3 - 1 MO 1 CO2 0.01166 moles of CO2 was produced from an equal 0.01166 moles of MO find molar mass of MCO3 0.98338 gram sample / 0.01166 moles of MO 84.34 g/mole subtract the molar mass of (CO3) 60 g/mol gives the molar mass of the metal as 24 g/mol that's Magnesium
Q:I have been struggling with anorexia and I have been trying to get use to food againI just ate a full bag of steam fresh mixed veggies with out butter only some salt and pepper and I had a piece of grilled salmon
Well, yes the steamed veggies are good and kudos to you for not adding butter, which can be fattening and bad for your cholesterolBut salmon is much healthier when its bakedWhat i do with my salmon is i put it in some aluminum foil, and put lemon pieces under and on top of it, sprinkle it with red pepper, cajun, and chili powderand for some sides steamed asparagus and white riceIts a very delicious and healthy dinner hope for the best
Q:Aluminum has a density of 2.70 g cm-3 and crystallizes in a face-centered cubic latticeUse these and other data to calculate the atomic radius (in pm) of an aluminum atom.
Shelf life of a particular beverage depends upon what type of beverage it is,aerated drinks last till the can lasts, non fermented fruit juices may get spoil quickly while spirits can last longer.
Q:I'm cooking today I'm 17 and a family of 7 easy meals cuz I'm just going to publix., no experiments
I'd say it's moldmoisture can form when there is a temperature differential, much like moisture condenses on the outside of a cold glass of water.
Q:I know there are a lot of videos out there, but I am on dial up, and I can't watch them very quickly, so does anyone have a website, or PDF of how to make a smoke grenade at home?
We learned valuable lessons from IraqWe have to find the fingerprints on the tubes and tie them to Assad first.
Q:One is internet order, the other is relatively hard to find at storesThe stores around California seem to only offer Trek, Masi, Specialized and few offer BianchiAny advice would be helpful
It should be pretty cheap considering it is a small boatI have a 14 ftaluminum boat myself, but i don't want to paint itIt's too much up keepgo to a boat dealer and see what they say.
Q:Question 1) Why do some people think plastic packaging saves energy?Question 2)Why do some people think plastic should not be used as packagingplease help i've already looke on the internet and couldn't find anything!
Plastics require much less energy to produce than tin and/or aluminum Plastics don't degrade very fast and will last much longer in landfills than other packaging options.
Q:I dunno if it was tin or aluminium.it was one of those trays you bake food in, the disposable kind? he ate like the top of one side of it, a longer side (4x5.5 pan).BUT I AM VERY WORRIED.he is an 80lb Dalmatian (yes, odd I know) and he's 10 years old, WILL BE BE OKAY?Should I give him some bread, so he has some fiber and can pass a turd easier?!
Its normal all of my friends kids sweat while they are sleeping ( she has 3 and working on her 4th )
Q:So I made a few papier mache sculptures of African ladies and I used non-acidic paper and tissue, flour and water paste, aluminum foil and wire for the armature, covered the pm in a thin layer of plaster to smooth it out, and I painted over it with acrylics and then sealed it and it also has decorations like glass beads and stone and boneAnd I let it dry good at each stageI like them alot and want them to last for all my life, I'm 16, will they? How long would they last? Is there any way I can make papier mache last longer?
I've just recently given away a mask that I made about ten+ years agoI used news paper and corrugated cardboard to construct the mask, both with high acid pHThe inside and outside were both coated with acrylic paintAnd for the most part the mask is in fairly good condition only suffering from being handled over timeBesides acid levels in the paper probably the biggest concerns would be moisture and insectsAluminum foil should not be of any concernI also have a small dinosaur that someone gave to me probably close to being twenty years old that was made using solid papier mache in pulp formIt was never painted or sealed with anything, collected dust over the years rarely cleaned and has held up very wellIf your sculptures are handled with care I don't see why they would not last.I hope that you enjoy them for many years to come
