- Q:what do i do? the wire just snapped.
- If the wire is broken but still attached to your brackets and it isn't moving you could put a piece of wax or gum over where the sharp part is to prevent you from catching your cheeks or lips on it. If it's too loose and about to fall out then try gently sliding the wire out from under the bands around the brackets (only if you really have to). Make an appointment to your orthodontist as soon as they can get you in because that isn't fun to have to put up with. Please don't chew on anything hard like candy or it might make the weakened bracket pop off which might make for a longer appointment. Stick with soft foods 'till you can get it fixed. I had them for 4 years! Now I work in a dental office. Just take it easy, don't worry too much. :)
- Q:1. what is drive-by-wire?2. what is drive-by-brake?
- think maybe think of road as wire learn how and when to brake but this might be what it is
- Q:i hate the wired controllers. they all get tangled
- All DualShock2s are wired. However, a company named Katana made a wireless controller called the force2 that was of high enough quality that Sony made it an officially licenced product (as opposed to all the other third-party controllers) and allowed them to use the same physical design and packaging as the actual DualShock2s. It's a nice little controller, though it doesn't like rechargeable batteries at all.
- Q:I want to know what the definition is of a hot wire gauge.
- A hot wire gage is a tool that tells you which wire(s) are hot meaning that they have electricity running through them. If you go to the tool store you would ask for a voltage detector. These are about the size of a pen. They light up and beep when the detect voltage. I highly recommend having one when doing electrical. There is nothing worse than grabbing a wire that you thought was powered off only to get lit up. Hope this helps.
- Q:I've been asking questions to my mom about what is inside the new receiver and then suddenly i asked my mom, what is inside a wire? She didn't know what was inside a wire so i asked if i can post my question on yahoo answers, and then she said yes so i did it.
- thers different types, under the rubber/plastic insulation thers usually copper, but thers also aluminum, thers #1 and #2 copper wire, one is thick 2 is small, ther can be solid or a bunch of thin ones wrapped in a spiral, in the spiral the electricity only uses the outside wires, pretty neat...but fiber optic is glass, they are coved by a main rubber insulation then ther's all the small wires inside wich is also insulated, if you take that off then thers one more tiny layer covering the glas you have to scrape off to actully see the glass, wich hurts worse than a cactus if it gets in your skin, not fun...wires can be very tiny and can be very large, i have samples of wire as thick as a golf ball, very heavy, you have to use a electric wench system to pull it
- Q:I just bought an aftermarket cd player for my Grand Cherokee and I would rather not have to cut and strip wires so I want to get an wiring harness adapter. My question is, can I just get any wiring harness adapter or do I need the direct connection adapter that is specifically made for Chrysler to Kenwood?
- You just get the jeep wiring adapter and then solder or use crimp caps/butt-connectors to connect the wires to the aftermarket harness that comes with the aftermarket headunit. Also, depending on what year Jeep you have you may need an antenna adapter. AND I believe on the Jeeps (like the chryslers) there is not a usable ground wire in the factory wiring harness which means you will need to ground the aftermarket ground wire to the chassis via an existing bolt or drilling. Or, if the stock radio has one of these metal-mesh things affixed to the back, you can use that thing as well. But when you match up the Jeep harness you buy to the factory harness and you will be able to tell if there is ground wire in factory harness.
- Q:I notice my 10/100 Ethernet wire uses 4 wires (2 twisted pairs). I'm curious what each wire is used for. I understand one pair is for Tx (transmit) and the other for Rx (receive) but why does it need 2 wires for each? I assume bits of data cross on one, but what of the other?
- This is an ethernet only cable. A full patch lead has 8 cables. Yours is STILL an ethernet cable. The additional blue pair would be telephone and the brown pair was unused, but is commonly used for power over ethernet now. ANY data connection requires 2 cables to balance the signal. In effect one is pushing voltage while the other is pulling and vice versa. One is signal, in effect the other is a ground, bur the idea is that by using twisted pair cables the inductive voltage created in one polarity on one is cancelled by the inductive voltage returning on the other in opposite polarity. The same rule applies to external interference from other equipment as these are also cancelled. If it used one cable and a common ground you can never guarantee this immunity to interference.
- Q:My house is currently wired using Cat-5 lines. If I were to replace the Cat-5 wiring with Cat-6 wiring, would I see an increase in my DSL speed?
- VSA (Very Short Answer): No You may think this way: you have a working 100mbps LAN linking your computers. Maybe you have a 1000mbps LAN in case you use Gigabit Ethernet. You have a leased line (DSL) from the ISP rated for, maybe, 8 mbps --- it is an example, ok?. And you know this bandwidth is almost never achieved, and that any bandwidth you have is shared among your local computers. So even if the LAN performance increases by some infinitesimal factor by just using better cabling, you still are constrained by the bandwidth you pay for, or worse, the bandwidth you actually get from the ISP. The CAT-6 cables are really effective on very long cable runs or situations where the cables cross areas with high rates of electrical interference, as noted here by another user.
- Q:I recently purchased a 1-wire alternator and I'm not sure what to do with the wire harness that was on my stock alternator. Also not sure what the three wires on it go to. Can anyone experienced in alternator wiring tell me what these wires do and if it is ok to leave them unhooked?
- the three wires are prolly alternator turn on one wire for the guage and one random maybe ground or something what you need to do is look at the instructions that came with the 1 wire alternator to see if it needs a turn on lead if so you can check the three wires you have with a meter to see which wires put out twelve volts when the ignition is on this is a turn on/ignition lead then youll wanna find the lead that goes to the guage on the dash and make sure it gets twelve volts so the guage reads the other can be capped off
- Q:Kind of a confusing question I guess. I want to cut a wire that contains 3 other wires and splice into them then reconnect them. is all I need relatively the same gauge wire or is it potentially different type like some sort of special speaker wire..? Should be one positive one negative and the other some sort of signal for sound. (Microphone to a speaker). All I need is standard copper wire?
- Hello Rocky: You need to be more specific. What are you attempting to do? I know you want to splice a three-ply wire, but what is your end purpose?
