- Q:Whether the wire tube is connected to the electrical bridge can be connected to the bottom of the bridge
- Broadly include the standardization of fasteners, links, transmission parts, seals, hydraulic components, pneumatic components, bearings, springs and other mechanical parts
- Q:I am adding a new outlet and switch and my existing wire in the wall is about a foot short. Can I splice another foot if wire to that to make it long enough?
- If you can snake the wire through, you should be able to splice into the receptacle box up through the switch to the light. Don't see a reason to come back down to another receptacle as this will connect it in parallel with the circuit. Make sure you secure the power to those boxes for safety's sake though!!!
- Q:I have a garden shed to which I would like to run electrical power. I have a source of power in my workshop that has a few open breakers in a 125AMP panel. Any running from the current panel to the garden shed would be roughly 60 feet long. I was thinking of running a 10-3 wire with two hots, a common and the ground to split into two circuits once I got to the shed. One would be for a few outlets (internal and outside) and another circuit for the lighting. I would be exiting the workshop for about 20 feet to get to the garden shed where I would put the cable 18 underground in a 1 1/2 inch conduit. If this is OK, what sort of breakers would I need at the workshop panel? I was thinking 2 20-amp single pole for each wire (hots-redblack), the common to the neutral bar and of course the ground. Is this enough information to help me ensure I would be NEC compliant? Any safety issues? Is there a better way to do this?
- Connect your 10-3 to a double pole 30 amp breaker in the work shop. Use type UF wire underground. 18 deep with PVC conduit will work well. Or just bury the wire without conduit at 24. Buried conduit is considered a wet location so UF must be used either way. At the shed install a lug panel with 2 or more breakers. No more than 6. If you use a 15 amp in one space you can wire the lights with #14 wire. 20 amp in the other for the receptacle outlets wired with #12. Keep the ground and the neutral separated at the shed box with the neutral bus isolated from the box. You are required to install a single ground rod at the shed. This is for lightning and power surges only. BCNU is wrong about not installing a grounding conductor with the circuit conductors. It is not allowed to use an electrode for equipment grounding. Install GFCI protected receptacle outlets. Lights are not required to be GFCI protected. Any other questions, send a reply.
- Q:I was just doing some investigating to my home's electrical setup, on curiosity. I noticed that I have a room with two electric heat panels, each rated at 2548W. They are on 12AWG wire, and a 20A breaker. I did the math, and came up with a total current draw of 21.23A. How come my breaker isn't tripping? And is this a fire hazard?
- I am curious in how you can have a 2548W heater, unless it’s an older heater. On a 120V household circuit the max wattage for an electrical heater is 1500W. But the reason that your breaker isn’t tripping is because of the way that breakers are made. They will only instantly trip on either 4 or 10 times the current, a load that is close to rated will only cause it to trip after a period of time. According to the NEC AWG 12 is limited to 20A but it’s kind of screwy on the fact that it does list it’s capacity at 30A. Either way that very easily could be a fire hazard given the fact that an electric heater itself will not only get hot enough to ignite things the wires feeding them also get hot and if it’s an extension cord those are usually buried under a rug or another flammable thing. Some more information is needed to see if this is a fire hazard.
- Q:Hey! Im trying to fix a rental property i have and this is the first time ive done any work to it. When i arrived the hallway light was not working. It has a switch at each side of the hall. It has White/Black/Red wires. I tried installing a new light and without touching the wires i tried to install it off the white/Black wires and i couldnt recieve power. I tried messing around and cant seem to figure it out. Is the red wire needed for a simple hallway light? What is it there for? . also maybe related in one of the bedrooms i have an elec outlet plug i replaced and worked for about a day Then randomly it stopped working and i checked the wire connection to the plug and they seem fine. i also tried a new outlet plug to see if that was the problem (it wasnt) what could be the problem it is the only outlet in the room that doesnt work. Thanks!!
- No it doesn't matter which terminals the 2 black wires go into as long as one of them is in the Live and one in the Neutral. The other is as you've correctly put, the Earth. If the fitting has a terminal to put an Earth cable then it should really have one fitted. It's a safety issue there to help prevent you from getting a fatal electrical shock if the fitting should go faulty. Disregard at your peril! Not all light fittings need an earth but those that don't will not have an earth terminal and are what they call double insulated (on the fitting there will be a symbol of two squares one inside the other) I would strongly advise ensuring you have one fitted.
- Q:Hello! I have two exact same porch lights. I was moving one lamp to test location #2 (the other light turned out to be bad, just wanted to make sure power was ok) and I thought I wrote down which wires from the wall (outside on condo patio) went into the wires on the lamp but now I see I have FOUR wires coming from the walland only three for the lamp.I seem to have two white wires, or at least I cannot see any color outside of the grey paint from when the building was painted. The third is black and the last is green and I can see the color of those wires and I am sure they were connected to the ground and the power. Now, finally my question.do those two white wired go together with the white wire from the lamp? Please email me if you need further explanation or a picture of the wiring, Thank you so much for your help! I thought I had my bases covered but I dropped the ball!!
- Since you have 2 porch lights - the power or 120v is normally connected to the white and black wires, The green wire is ground. If you have 2 white wires they should be connected together. When connecting the fixture to the wires - white to white - black to black - green to green or to the metal housing of the fixture. Power should be shut off while connecting the wires. Hope this helps.
- Q:A 4400 watt motor is located 930 feet away from the 240v source. The motor's minimum voltage is 220 volts. What size of wire is required to maintain at least 220v at the pump? How much power is lost with this size wire? Please help! Thanks!
- this has to be a theoretical calculation, because you can't do this in real life. For one thing, the startup surge of the motor will lower the voltage so much it won't start. And electrical codes won't allow this either. 4400/220 20 amps. R 20v/20a 1 ohm there are two wires, so length is 2x930 1860 ft at 1860 ft, this is 0.538 ohms per 1000 ft looking at the wire gauge tables, #7 wire is 0.498 ohms/1000 ft #8 wire is 0.628 ohms/1000 ft use #7 wire you will have 0.926 ohms for 930 ft (x2) at 20 amps that is E IR 18.5 volts lost P 20*18.5 370 watts. .
- Q:The socket has yellow and blue gray three colors, which is the line of fire? Which is the zero line? Which is the ground?
- Code for acceptance of construction quality of electrical engineering construction "(GB-2002) Chapter 12
- Q:a/c
- Not sure the question. But if you are looking for a/c wiring a ranger with the same engine will have the same wiring diagram. Check local parts store they stock all kinds of engine books with wiring in it.
- Q:A puppy travel in the desert, found the poles, the results still suffocated, why?
- In the manufacturers where the cable is on the number of meters, the retailer's words are, up to give you some preferential prices.
