- Q: I am changing an outside light with a inside wall switch there is 2 cables going to the outside box. ( 3 wires -white w/red line wire and black wire and green ground wire ) other cable 3 wires is white wire and black wire and green ground wire.On the inside switch is 3 wires white wire a black wire a green ground wire.for some reason it is not working, can any one tell me how to wire and or test for power. thank you
- Sounds like, cable #1 is coming from the Service Panel. The white ( with red line?) is the Neutral and connects to the white wire coming from the light fixture. The black is the Hot and connects to the black of the other cable set. The grounds all connect together and a pig tail should be fastened to the box if it is metal. The white wire from the other cable set should have black tape wrapped around the end to re-identify it as Hot and it should connect to the black wire coming from the light fixture. At the switch, connect the black to one terminal and wrap black tape on the white wire end and connect it to the other terminal. The ground should connect to the green ground terminal and if it has a metal box,pig tail to that.
- Q: In MA. What type of wiring should I use, and do I need any type of protection for the wire.
- I would use simple 12-18 Volt (low voltage) garden path lighting with a focused beam spotlight. You won't need to protect the wiring if you do that. If you use 110-120 Volt wiring, you're going to need to bury conduit to protect the wiring. The low voltage stuff is alot easier.
- Q: I am replacing a 2 wire circuit for a fan/light combo with a 3 wire fan/light combo switch. I ran a new 12/2 w/grnd to the switch box. I ran a 12/3 w/grnd to the ceiling box for the fan. I have a ceiling fan and light control switch that control light and fan separately. I can't figure out which wires go to what.
- Fan Light Control Switch
- Q: I have a 98 RS Eclipse (420a) and i would like some opinions and recommendations for spark plug wires. Who makes the best or very good wires for my engine??
- The stock ones are made by Mopar. They fit and work.
- Q: chicken wire mesh
- you live near a river it will make one fine fish trap round or oval 2 feet in dia.and 4 feet long .let me know and I will tell you how to naturaly bait the trap
- Q: A 41.7-kg sign is suspended by two wires, as the drawing shows. Wire 1 makes and angle of 42.2deg with the horizontal and wire 2 makes an angle of 58.8deg. Find the tension in wire 1 and wire 2.
- To solve this, you have to find 2 equations, because there are 2 unknowns. Assume, Tension in wire 1 = T1 Vertical component of T1 = T1 sin42.2 Horizontal component of T1 = T1 cos42.2 Tension in wire 2 = T2 Vertical component of T2 = T2 sin58.8 Horizontal component of T2 = T2 cos58.8 Since the sign board is in equilibrium, the forces must balance each other. Horizontally, the horizontal components of both forces are balancing each other. Therefore, T2 cos58.8 = T1 cos42.2 T2 = (T1 cos42.2) / (cos58.8) -------------------(1) For the vertical components of the wire, both are balancing the weight of the sign. T1 sin42.2 + T2 sin58.8 = (41.7)(9.8) T1 sin42.2 + T2 sin58.8 = 408.66N ----------------(2) Combine (1) into (2), T1 sin42.2 + (T1 cos42.2)(sin58.8) / (cos58.8) = 408.66 T1 ( sin 42.2 + cos 42.2 tan 58.8) = 408.66 T1 = 215.66N Subst T1 = 215.66N into (1), T2 = (T1 cos42.2) / (cos58.8) = 308.4N Hope it is correct ^^
- Q: I have a question on Razer Naga Epic.Does the USB charger wire also act as a mouse signal wire or is it still a warless signal even if it's plugged in thru a wire?Bottom line, is the wire in the Razer Naga Epic only for charging?
- This Site Might Help You. RE: Razer Naga Epic mouse wire question.? I have a question on Razer Naga Epic. - Q: Ok. so i wired my cd deck into my 92 buick, but everytime i start the car i have to manually turn on the cd deck. i also have to change the settings everytime! and once i turn off the car the setting will not save and the setting will be lost. Now everytime i turn my car on i have to manually put the settings again! this did not happen in my old car! and i think it might be the wiring! Because the last cd deck i had did save the settings! and would turn thge cd player on everytime i turned on my car!! and it would play the track back, right where i left off. please help! i did attach the yellow cable wire the red cable to the battery current.? is there a problem!
- sparky is right. The yellow wire keeps the memory, and should have constant power even when the ignition is off. The red wire should have power only when the ignition is on. If the radio is left on when you turn the car off, it will come back on when you start the car, but only if the radio keeps constant power on the yellow wire. For your car: The constant power wire should be orange (connect to radio's yellow wire) The switched power wire should be yellow (connect to radio's red wire)
- Q: Why does a thin wire melt and a thick wire glow when put up to the terminals? Explain in terms of resistance and current. Thanks=]
- the electrical restistance of a thin wire is greater that the tick wire. thus : Watt = current * current * resistance if the resistance of the thick wire is 10 times the resistcance of the thin wire , then ( with same voltage ) you have for small wire Watt = current * current * resistance for thick wire Watt = 10*current * 10*current * (resistance/10) = 10current current resistance. so the power generated in the thick wire is ten times more than the power in the thin wire ( if you keep the voltage the same ) so that is not why the smaller one melts. I dont know why it melts then, interesting
- Q: I have a 220v single phase kiln with two red wires labeled L1 and L2, and one white wire labeled N. It did not come with the plug, so I bought one and new wire 3/c 10awg, but it has ground(green), Hot(black), and neutral(White). I dont know how to proceed with wiring? any help would be great. Thanks. Jose
- How 220v works with 4 wires: (one wire to each) 1 Black wire carries 110v (L1) 1 Red wire carries 110v (L2) 1 White wire acts as a common (neutral) 1 Green wire acts as a ground How 220v works with 3 wires: 1 Black wire carries 110v 1 Red/White wire carries 110v (if you use white flag it with red electrical tape) 1 Green wire acts as a ground/common (Do not actually ground this) If you have 4 wires in the wall, but you are wiring them to a 3 prong receptacle, connect the green wire to the green ground screw on the receptacle or if no ground screw is present, attach this wire to one of the receptacle mounting screws. That way if the common fails, you still have the added protection of a ground. Some wiring installations may use different colored wires, this doesn't change how anything works. If you have any doubts, get a voltage tester and make sure.
