Q: I vacuum every day with a kirby sentria. I read somewhere that vacuuming daily can ruin your carpet, but I haven't had a problem (yet). Supposedly it'll wear out the carpet sooner? I use the correct settings for my carpet. We have a 3 year old, a dog, and 3 cats, the thought of vacuuming even every other day kind of sickens me when I think about how many crumbs and how much hair can build up in the carpet lol.Is it okay to vacuum daily? Not gonna have to replace the carpet every 3 years if I do it that way?
It's true that it will wear the carpet down because vacuums have beater brushes slamming against them every time you run it. However it's a necessary thing that can't be avoided. Carpets also break down from walking on them and dirt debris getting ground into them. Buy a better quality carpet and just as importantly a better quality padding and you won't have to worry about how much you vacuum. A good carpet should last 15 years or more.
Q: I have never purchased new carpet and do not know where to begin. What type of carpet is best for high traffic areas? This will be in our living room. Thanks for the input!
Nylon all the way. Wool is superb but very $$$$$$$$$$$$$$. Saxony, Plush or Frieze with a 40oz+ face weight with a good padding----Slab Rubber and Frothed Foam are the Luxury pads...light years above Rebond. Note: Buy the best pad you can afford. The pad will make the carpet look better and last longer.
Q: My living and dining room are one room. (not a huge room) I bought an area rung which I would consider classic. It has about 9 rows of different color rectangles ( beiges, golds, browns, and burgundies) with a beige border for under my dining room table. I saw another rug with basically the same colors but with more burgundy. It has bigger rectangles that are all different sizes. Some are big stripes and not in any particular order. It is hard to describe. Can I put them together? One in the living room and one under the table? From the end of one to the beginning of other there would only be about 18 inches? Thanks
It's hard to say without pics but as long as there are a few similar colors between the two then I'd say they'd work great - after all we are talking about two seperate areas in one big space so I wouldn't say they'd have to match exactly.
Q: So, i have lived in the same house for about...7 years. i never really took care of my carpet. i threw wet towels on the ground... and never dried anything that spilled. well i think i am paying for it, because my room smells like booty. and now my carpet gets wet in some spots by itself...like no spills or anything, its just wet.do i need a new carpet?
Carpet will not provide a food source for mold unless it is contaminated with organic type spills, including food, feces, vomit, possibly urine, and blood. Mold grows when high humidity is present, normally on wood or paper, which would be the food source. You do not mention what type of spills took place on your carpet, or if you have pets. Homes with pets are among the dirtiest homes on the planet. Urine stains that penetrated the carpet, carpet pad, and made it to the wood floor, will harbor bacteria living in the alkaline urine salts. They become active during high humidity conditions and produce ammonia type odors. Unfortunatly, people attempt to spot spills and stains from their carpet with out regard to proper cleaning procedures, they leave the cleaning solution and the spill in the carpet, wipe with a towel, when the solution and spill shoiuld have been rinsed/extracted from the carpet fibers. Every pro does the rinse/extraction process or they would be out of business. My suggestion, replace your carpet, carpet pad. seal the floor where it is contaminated with whatever and start over with new carpet. Have your new carpet professionally cleaned yearly with the hot water extraction process. Carpeting is a big investment, take care of it in the future.
Q: im looking for like a plain white rug with a solid border around it that does not touch the edges but jsut borders it kinda outlines the shape its going to be put im my room so any ideas?
I okorder /... (looked at tons of sites/stores for a couple hrs, overstock didn't have any either)
Q: I want to make a rug, but I don't want to buy any of the patterns they've got at the store. I don't know what I'm supposed to do. If someone can walk me through it, that would be great!
You're obviously a creative person because you want to do your own design. My sister uses burlap, and she makes her own strips from old sheets. But you can also buy blank rug canvas and rug yarn at craft stores.
Q: I am moving to an apt with all concrete floors and need to put some type of rug in living area. Only problem is that I don't want my dog to have an accident on the rug. Any suggestions on where to get a type of rug that is washable at home, or maybe an alternative?
There are flat woven synthetic sisal rugs that can be taken outside and wash down with soap water. Often sold as patio rugs. Not much money. There are other type of rugs that can be taken outside and washed. A real nice one is the Hemingway collection. If you can, you can paint a rug design on the concrete.
Q: What kind of good pressing strip carpet and marble interface
Landlord, I've just made a marble foot block and carpet inside the Dongying Hotel. Their practice is to make the carpet the same thickness as marble. That is, the ground floor is low. Carpet and marble thickness, looks very beautiful
Q: How to clean the carpet wax?
Spray the carpet with a stain and then scrub it into the carpet with a spoon. Dry quickly with a white towel, then let the carpet dry naturally (before it dries completely, it will look a little darker). Light carpets and dark stains may need several washings to recover.
Q: I know it doesnt matter as long as I like it but I want your opinion :)Its kind of plain but Im just wondering…
Yeah I like it. I think it would look good underneath a coffee table, or at the foot of a sofa, or just wherever as an area rug. I think it would look great. But I guess it all depends though because I don't know what your living room looks like. SO, I guess I really can't say. But yeah, I do like it.
