Q:Hi everyone. I have a problem with my carpets. I recently bought a very nice, thin carpet. It is very detailed, thus it doesn't stay quot;flatquot;. It likes to move around and bulge. I have placed this carpet on another thick carpet. Now I need ideas to keep or stick my thin carpet on top of the thick one without damaging both of them. I dont want to glue or nail stuff done. It likes to move around and bulge What you need is a carpet/rug non-slip gripper pad. You can find these in most department stores and Home Depot and Lowe's. It is a netting material you lay down under the rug. It will stop the rug from slipping. It comes in different sizes that can be trimmed to fit.

Q:I have a big rug in my bedroom which I would like to bring to school- however it smells bad from jsut being on the floor for so long. I would like to clean it just enough so that it won't stink up my dorm room WITHOUT calling a carpet cleaner. Any suggestions?

I have a big living room rug. It is acrylic but a very nice fake persian rug that wasn't cheap. You can only use the following for an acrylic rug, but if it is dirty and stinky, it would work (see for just stinky rugs below). Take it out to a deck or some surface that is not grassy or soily under neath. Hose it down and scrub it with oxyclean and a mild dish detergent, hose it off and then hang it so it will dry (takes a day or so in dry weather. If it is just smelly, get some old fashioned lysol spray (the kind that smells like antiseptic, not the new pretty smelling ones and take the rug outside. Spray the hell out of it and let it sit in the sun for a couple of hours. This will kill the mildew, old clothes smell or whatever is making it smell. You can't use febreeze or something with a nice odor because it will cover the smell, not get rid of it. Good luck

Yes. If you are going to use it the full size that it is now, all you have to do is go to the fabric store and purchase rubber rug backing so it won't slip on the floor when stepped on. The rubber gripping is best sewn on either by machine or hand and try to stitch it throughout the back, not just along the edges or at the corners so that it won't rip when you launder it. Another way to use it is a rug is to purchase two sided carpet tape. The tape sticks to the floor and then you press the rug onto it holding it in place.

Q:I installed laminate flooring in our living room this past weekend and where the laminate meets the carpet in our bedroom there is about 1 inch of a height difference.Can someone please tell me how to fix this?

They make transition pieces go to where you purchase the flooring. Tell the clerk what you're doing and he will give you the proper transition pieces. Good luck

Q:I finally convinced my parents to let me have a pony which we are looking for now! Theres only one problem..rugs! I know I need at least one turnout,a stable, A travel/cooler to start with. My boy is a 14.3hh bay pony. I bought two Harrison Howard rugs for him. The rug for winter keeps him dry and warm, and the summer rug keeps him cool in the sun??s heat.

Q:I want to put new carpet in a room, it is about 12 ft. by 14 ft., I just need the carpet, no install or delivery, about how much would it cost for standard carpet and would I need to replace the padding if there is already some under the old carpet? Thanks

Most carpet places have remnants that size and you could get it for $200 tops. And, yes you can use the old padding if it is not smatched or missing in spots. Also, if you want it bound on all sides, it is probably $25 or so and they do it right away for you while you wait. I would look for carpet outlets or go to a regular big carpet place and ask for the remnants. Look around but you can really find bargains some places.
