Q: I have horribleee pine green carpet in my room. BUT my walls are brightly painted. I'm suppossed to be getting floors for my room in about a month. I hate looking at my carpet but idk if I should rip it up or if the cement would look bad. My room is decorated nicely so idk if that would make cement look less scary. Should I rip my carpet up? I'm sure its cement underneath.
No... don't rip up the carpet until you know for sure what (and when) you are getting it's repalcement. You don't know for sure what you'll be uncovering either... it's it's painted, or stained badly by something in places. Live with the green you don't like awhile longer and try to bear it. (There are worse fates.) Better the devil you know, than the devil you don't.
Q: cement and concrete as composite?
If your asking if they are composites then yes. Concrete is a composite construction material composed primarily of aggregate, cement, and water. There are many formulations, which provide varied properties. The aggregate is generally a coarse gravel or crushed rocks such as limestone, or granite, along with a fine aggregate such as sand. Portland cement (often referred to as OPC, from Ordinary Portland Cement) is the most common type of cement in general use around the world because it is a basic ingredient of concrete, mortar, stucco and most non-specialty grout. It usually originates from limestone. It is a fine powder produced by grinding Portland cement clinker (more than 90%), a limited amount of calcium sulfate (which controls the set time) and up to 5% minor constituents as allowed by various standards such as the European Standard EN197-1:
Q: I have a good friend who was exposed to Portland cement a number of years ago. She continues to experience severe facial scabbing and oozing sores. She has not received proper treatment from her local physicians. Is anyone aware of a dermatologist who she can contact regarding treatment? Anyone help is grat appreciated!!
Portland cement has Lye as an ingredient. This ia a very caustic substance(causes chemical burns) however the effects do not last for years- just days. The problem is obviously something else and she should see a dermatologist
Q: Hey, I was working with cement dust and it was windy, and ended up going everywhere - I mean my eyes, hair, and I breathed a lot of it in. Now Ive got a sore throat, heavy eyes, and it wont come out my clothes. How can I get it out clothes? And is it dangerous to breath in too much? Is it possible it mixed with sweat in my hair to form a paste? it feels funny! Health affects? thanks for any help :-)
Go to a hospital and get your lungs flushed out or something.
Q: My parents have a family of life size cement deer that they want me to bronze. They figured I could find instructions on the internet but so far I'm not having a lot of luck. Does anyone know of a resource that can help me out? (I'm used to painting ceramics but never a bronze finish before -- and never anything that big!)
There are various paints that might be used. However cement can be a problem when it comes to paint, because it is acidic. There is process called acid washing or maybe it's acid staining a process for applying color to existing cement ,primarily floors, that you might look into. Google cement colorants, cement stains etc. Most of the information available on the net applies to industrial application, floor coloring ,architectural applications. Working with cement can be hard on the hands so use some rubber gloves.
Q: How thick should cement be for a driveway?
5 to 6 inches
Q: I remember our new middle school (back when I was in middle school) was brand new. And most kids have a (non-serious) fantasy about their school burning down, but it almost entirely made of painted cement blocks.Cement, I think can be burned/charred if say you hold a blowtorch/flamethrower to it, or douse it with gasoline and ignite it, but I don't think it can catch fire and have it spread like wood can. I know the twin towers collapsed but that was because an plane flew into them. It was the engine fuel that burned it. For a fire to catch and spread and become really strong, it needs some decent food/combustible fuel like wood to get a strong fire going.
Whilst cement and metal can't burn the heat from the fire will cause the materials to weaken and then generally buildings collapse because they can't support their own weight.
Q: I've had dental implant placed, and today I have seen my dentist who installed the permanent crown. He cemented it with temporary cement. He reasoned that by if he fills it with permanent cement, then in case anything happens in the future and has to be looked at, then he has to quot;breakquot; the crown and thus new one is needed. However, that is not the case with temporary cement. Is he doing the right thing? I am honestly not convinced too much. He
You might want to discuss this with this dentist and allow him to take a radiograph, check the bite and do a visual exam of this crowned tooth to assure it was seated properly since you feel it might not be and are having these twinges. Although some dental assistants and hygienist excel and are highly capable of performing these extended duties, they are never allowed to do so without the dentist being in direct supervision and on the premises.
Q: why has the price of portland cement increased from 2007 to now?
The manufacture of Portland cement is an energy consuming process that converts CaCO3 to CaO and reacts it with other raw materials . Portland cement clinker is made by heating, in a kiln, a homogeneous mixture of raw materials to a calcining temperature, which is about 1450 °C for modern cements. This requires a lot of energy , which is probably obtained from oil. Seen the price rise of oil since 2007 , This is reflected in the increased price of cement . Also other greenhousetaxes - consider how much CO2 is released in cement manufacture. Result - the price of cement has risen steeply.
Q: Wat are the differences in Concrete,Cement, and Moder?
( Cement is a hardener only, it is not concrete, many people call it Concrete but it is not) 1) Concrete is a term for material that is made up of Cement, many sized stones or gravel (an aggregate) up to three quarters of inch and sand. This is all mixed with water to lay it out. Varying the size of stones or additional materials (fiberglass strands; metal; chips; flakes;) can be added to the mix along with varying the amounts of cement and water will give you all kinds of different Concrete, this will make it either stronger or lighter or whatever your looking for. 2) Mortar is much the same way. It is made up of Cement and sand, but no aggregate (Stones). This is also mixed with water to lay it out. It can have material called Lime added and mixed in. This helps it adhere to bricks and blocks and to make Stucco (type of Mortar used on sides of homes). Mortar can be anything from one shovelfull of Portland cement and three of sand to seven of sand depending on what you looking to make.
