Q:How can I remove the rear plastic window of a 1993 Ford Mustang LX convertible?
I removed mine with a razor knife, just be careful not to cut your fingers..
Q:Insulation for plastic windows?
You can use indoor plastic kits. They contain sheets of plastic film, which looks like cling-film, but is slightly thicker. The kit also comes with double-sided tape, and you use this to tape the wooden framing (around the window pane). You then cut out the plastic to fit the size of your window frame and fix it to the tape. Finally, you blow a hair dryer on the plastic, which shrinks it so that it is very tight.
Q:A question about insulating my windows with plastic?
I'm guessing your insulation kit is the type with double sided tape for the window facings. You don't have to use a blow dryer; that's only if you want the plastic real smooth and tight and looks good. The plastic should keep the pests out but you could bug spray first and then install the plastic.
Q:Retractable Plastic Window Shades ?
Do you mean like the ones where you pull them down and they unroll, and then to open them back up you pull down slightly and push them back up? I have those and I got them at the Home Depot. You can special order them in whatever size you want. And, they're fairly inexpensive. I have them on two picture windows with a southwest exposure, one about 6 feet long and the other about 7 feet long. I also have 2-inch horizontal mini blinds on those windows. But, the blinds are so long and heavy that they don't completely close all the way. So, I had to install the roll-up blinds behind them. And, they work great.
Q:What's the right way to recycle envelops with a transparent plastic window?
I asked our recycling guy a year ago, and he said it's just fine to leave the windows in.
Q:help with putting plastic over my windows?
Have you looked in home improvement stores for big, wide, heavy duty (thick) pieces of plastic? {usually comes off of a roll) It may be big enough, and being heavier, it will do a better job of preventing heat loss.
Q:Do they use glass or plastic for windows on aeroplanes?
It varies widely. Most airliners have acrylic windows and consist of multiple (usually three) layers. Acrylic is used for its strength - it's not likely to break, and it can withstand both high and low temperatures. The opaque acrylic is sometimes referred to as plexiglass. Areas requiring more strength, particularly cockpits which are in danger of hail, bird strikes and other dangers are usually multiple layers of acrylic and glass, with heating elements inbetween to keep the glass clear and prevent the formation of ice from obscuring the view. They are also sprayed with chemicals which helps the rain disperse on them and prevent the formation of fog and condensation.
Q:How to fix plastic grid inside window?
Plastic Window Grids
Q:plastic window covering kits, how much do they really add to energy efficiency?
Couldn't have afforded winter in MI with out them! We lived in a 100 year old farm house, on a budget. We used plastic on all the windows and heated the whole house with the wood stove. The wood was free,(we cut and chopped it ourselves) and we only spent about 30 bucks on the plastic. Now that we live in NC, we still cover the windows, but we have electric heat now. I miss the wood stove!
Q:Ideas on how to repair a tear in a Jeep Wrangler plastic window, the tear is where the plastic meets fabric?
They have replacement windows and doors at very affordable prices and will ship them to you.
